There isn't always a 'latest' to date release, so you have to search, download and follow the damn upgrade 'path':
1. main RLS
2. update 1
3. update 1.1 to 1.23624
4. update 1.23624 to 1.26270970
5. update ...
Screw it, man, don't have the patience anymore for this!
Sometimes it's easier and 'cheaper' to buy the damn game...
There is a certain site for gog releases that have the the latest release in one pack and also stand alone patches.
May or may not be "free" site i mentioned in one word

TBH, it's annoying to be a Yarrer these days when games release half baked and new updates come every 2-3 weeks and have to download 10+ GB each time because they are files and not patchers. This game is perfect example of that, tho they slowed down on patches and it's probably safe enough to download some latest release.
Basically why i stoped in Early act 3 after my palading got bricked because oath breaker guy dissapeared from camp and i had no abilities working
Yeah, it's annoying. But then, I remember having to do this incremental shit way back when with games like Operation Flashpoint
Back with Ass Creed 2 when there wasn't a real crakl reliis and only way at the time was for people who bought the game to record new areas with some emulation tool. Was checking daily download for newer numbers (like 1600, 1610 etc) and unlock the game further until it was fully mapped.
Can't remember how bit these number files were. But probably something in kb and not whole gigabytes.

One would think that, in this day and age of bandwidth being more or less negligible in most instances, they would just make every cracked update the full thing (from that group's most recent cracked release version anyway) rather than having these dozens of incremental patches.
Major pain in the ass - especially with developers having entered the "ship it now, push dozens of patches later" mentality. And also when, as he mentioned, the developers puts dozens of .'s and numbers in their versioning.

It's just a big conspiracy to make us to BUY the game instead of searching, downloading, storing, installing all those 'incremental' annoying updates...

You laugh, but that's gotten me to bite the bullet more than once and just buy things. Of course, as soon as I do, the developers decide they're finished finished releasing patches every other day shortly thereafter. You're welcome!

It's not even a conspiracy. Even indie devs talk about patches as a way to fight piracy. Imagine what the big publishers are thinking. Publishers/Devs realized Early Access games are pirated less so they made similar tactic with 1.0 releases. At least in the first 1-3 months after release when usually the sells are highest.

Release patches. People hate if they have an older version with bugs

Game should not have simple versions like 1.0 -> 1.1 but instead should be 1.373626278182934738282929292928282 (exaggerated so you know what I mean)
And also release one bug fix at a time every few days with some message saying hey update the game!

I have to say: it definitely scratched my itch for a proper sendoff. It's not perfect, but at least gives some closure to the band of degenerate bisexuals I traveled with for so many hours.
Just look at CP 2077: 3 years on and it's still getting updates and features!
In a game as huge as BG3... I don't see Larian stopping very soon with their fixes, changes and new stuff.
And I doubt the 'Ultimate GOTY Definitive' edition will change this...
I agree. Gaymers these days want all their gayms be MMO's with co-op and weekly updates. Did start the game and reached the Goblin village in Act 1, but will get back to finish Elden Ring, play RDR2 and Phantom Liberty. When am done with those BG3 should be in somewhat "completed" version, I hope.

These days? I have wanted every game since I had dial up in 1996 and my first PC to have online and co-op/vs.
Why I got a PC and stopped consoles (my last was SNES): I could play games with friends and they didn't have to come over and share a screen.
1/2 of the game in my life I was interested in, lost interest right away if it didn't have co-op and my initial draw to it was "This will be fun as hell with my friends". There is only a very very narrow range of games I like SP.
And only because I enjoy them enough to 'put up' with that it doesn't have MP option. If any of them had it it would be 10x better to me. And if someone makes a MP mod for it, God bless them! (Cities Skylines, Kerbal, etc).
That is literally the first thing I look at in steam when I see a game I want, the side right where it lists game types and decide if it's worth it still and deal with it, if it is only SP:

Ah , look at you, naively thinking goty edition wont do the same
The game tracks such an absurd amount of things it will probably never be completely bugfree.
I recently learned for example that when you fight
Spoiler:
Raphael in Act 3 after you break into his house to steal his stuff and he breaks into a Disney villain song you can cast silence on him and his part of the song actually stops! He's literally singing during the fight. Well, he's a bard Same for Korilla.
