Nah, i think most people see it for what it is, its just a recommendation. Sometimes this recommendation can be off, absolutely.. i'm not a parent so i have no idea if i would follow it, probably not, i'm too into movies and games myself so i would likely just research it or watch it with the kid. But not all parents are that into games or movies and understands it on our level.
True, maybe its my style of parenting. I looked into all sorts of stuff I wasn't into at all, that my kids was as they grew up. If they was interested in it. I at least wanted to be educated on it for them.
What your kids enjoy molds and influences who they become (and vice versa). Seems a major part of engaging with and knowing your child in my eyes, to know about those things.
On top of that, I think too many parents despite being kids themselves in the past. Forget after age 11-12 ish, how much control of what their kids are exposed to they are curious about. is FAR less than they think it is. You really only control what they are exposed to when within visual distance of them once they start to form personal identities, and autonomous sense of self.

Just like previous posts hinted at, GTA series are well-known for this, though .. ? Balad of Gay Tony - which was fucking great - for instance.
Those games are chockful of satire, generally leaning towards the side of things you usually dislike. But usually, they went mostly the right way around it by mocking either side of each equation, I see no reason for them to do otherwise.

A CGI filled, vague and overly exaggerated movie like representation of what the game will be like playing it, but 90% less good looking and exciting as the trailer?
I myself never get the point of trailers like that. It's not the game, it's not the gameplay, it's not the graphics. Nor the camera angles, game mechanics, or audio/sound track. Are you just showing me what the game would look like if a movie adaptation was made of it? What's this got to do with selling me on the game itself?
