And bunch will play it for one week before it's a dead game. I bet they'll make sure this game is completely unplayable without a crew. Any game that doesn't make sure solo play is completely viable but where coop enhances the fun will fail massively.
Got the closed beta invite (completely forgot I signed up for it). Apparently no NDA or restrictions. I have absolutely zero expectations for anything even remotely decent.
Oh yea, original release date - Q3 2018.
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

As part of its latest earnings report - for the first half of its fiscal year 2023-24 - Ubisoft has announced yet another delay for Skull and Bones, with the beleaguered pirate adventure now expected to arrive sometime in the first few months of 2024.
Skull and Bones has been in development since 2013, but the game has seen repeated delays following its official unveiling in 2017. Most recently, Ubisoft shifted the game's release from this March to an unspecified "early" point in its fiscal year 2023-24 in order to create a "much more polished and balanced experience and to build awareness".
Skull and Bones has received a closed beta since then, but word on a revised release date has remained conspicuously absent - and Ubisoft has now announced a delay into Q4 of its current financial year, meaning it's expected to arrive sometime within the January-March 2024 period. No reason was provided for this latest delay.

Got the invite email as well, but then I read - "6 hours over the course of 3 days". Fuck that. I'm not scheduling my day around being able to play 2 hours in a beta that day - either open it up for the full 3 days or fuck off. I'm not some unpaid sweatshop laborer.

I thought this game was already cancelled. Looks like Ubi wants to scrape back some of the funding costs.
I don't think it's as much that as it is their studio took the local government's grant funding so they're legally obligated to release SOMETHING.

Ships are moving and reloading way too fast in combat. Feels like a mobile game with fancy graphics (pretty terrible NPC animation too, looking at vendors).
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.
Looks like shit, writing and voice acting was terrible and the gameplay wasn't much better.
Uninstalled it after a bit more than 30 minutes (No this wouldn't get better for me the more I play it).
It should go hang out with Starfield, both are quite the outdated crap and that's not about the visuals this is just lazy soulless shit from years ago.
The game is just a terrible idea overall, what were they even thinking? it's just a way, way less immersive version of Black Flag, more arcade:y. The pirate theme is also much less popular than something like WW2 or Fantasy.
Biggest problem the game is marketed as something else then what it is.
It's not Blackflag 2. It's a co-op MMO based around arcadish ship combat. And the grind is real. Some people will love this but it's a niche title, it's never gonna cover costs.

I don't know. Maybe in the beginning of the production they marketed it like "Black Flag sequel". But this game changed direction 4-5 times since then. They try to shift away from Black Flag as far as possible. It's only a "pirate game where you start as a small sailor to become the most feared ruler of the seas". Even the location isn't the Caribbean Islands anymore, but the Indian ocean.
Ubisoft realized this game might hurt the Assassin's Creed franchise and completely changed it to be new IP with nothing to AC or Black Flag other than being a "pirate game".
