Feels like they're going more and more off the rails (no pun intended!)
Over the past month I've done 2033, 2034 and I'm 2/3 of the way through Exodus's new version. I thought I liked Exodus the most until I played the old ones again. It loses a lot of its charm outside of the tunnels.
On another note, the new version of Exodus is an absolute disaster ImmOOO. Worthy of a negative review for sure. Many crashes, save game corruption, RTX bugs and a stretch where I couldn't get the game to autosave for over 50 minutes. The crashing is the worst though, it randomly shits itself all the time. Never had these issues in ~60hrs of the original Exodus.
I've played the enhanched edition. 60+ FPS, no stutters/crashes etc...
However there are lightning/texture that are a bit worse than the "original" one.
Exactly, I don't know how many people here play VR games based on existing games, but Alyx is the only one that really does it right and feels like a full game
Hopefully the Legacy mod will see the light this time, I still remember when it was announced some years back and was meant to run on the original 2033 engine. It looks like the devs switched to the Redux one and then finally settled on the Exodus SDK (which is ultimately the correct choice )
The VR game, Metro: Awakening, was just a spinoff developed by a completely different studio. 4A Games has been working on Metro 4 for quite a while:
Quote:
The next mainline Metro game is in development and is expected to be released "when it's ready".
The game is being created in collaboration with Dmitry Glukhovsky, the author of the Metro book series.
The developers at 4A Games have mentioned that the story for the next Metro game has become 'even darker' due to the ongoing situation in Ukraine.
No specific release date has been announced yet.
I want it naow.
Meanwhile I'm re-playing Metro: Exodus again. I can max out everything in the game (well, I've got Shading Rate set to 1.5x, 2x and higher can drop below 60 at times) including raytracing. That's on my 3070. Metro: Exodus EE is what the original release should've been: a highly optimized and updated game engine.
I've also used DLSS Swapper to replace the quite old v2.xxxx to the latest; DLSS4 v1.310.3 with preset K (transform build) and DLSS Tweaker to force DLAA. All running perfectly smooth.
