Land Of Bad 6.5/10. Just a simple action flick about US soldiers surviving jungle full of yellow people with machine guns. US air superiority plays important part. Good cast

Watched it. 6/10 for me. While i liked the premises and think it was good on occasion, it was still executed in the most boring and snoozeworthy fashion.

Dune 2 - 7.5/10

It was a movie. I think that it's still pretty hard to make a movie from that book and Villeneuve tried but ultimately couldn't extract the meat. He cut wrong parts and left some fat. Zendaya and Timothy IMO weren't the best choice. Walken just took the check and didn't give a fuck.
The Harkonen part was great, some great visuals there, Bene Gesserit plotline was good but when Paul took the scene I immediately was loosing interest.
Some last scenes were laughable.

So here my meek and subjective view on it.

Also: Please don't hire Zendaya. Pls, pls.

She has a smaller role in the 3rd book Wink

Ever seen this alternate cut of Lynch's version? I think it's actually pretty damn great and as faithful to the book as it could be. Visuals are still pretty spectacular too. The navigator entering the throne room is quite something.

There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.

Dune Part 2: 6.5/10 The visuals can carry a movie to a point.

More form than content. It's an illustration of a book, rather than its own thing. And probably fails at both.
The leading pair aren't very good at it.
Some random over the top scenes break the immersion.

You know, if they cut in half all the scenes where people are just staring and sped the slow motion scenes to normal, they could have put the two Dunes films together, and probably have left enough time for the second book. Laughing

Sounds like more of the same (part 1), oh well. Dialog in nu Blade runner was decent - what happened here?

The transformation into a leader was the main plot mover, but instead the movie goes sightseeing. The lead actor can't deliver it and no other character picks the plot..
Not an easy task anyway.

One of the very rare revenge films that is grounded in reality and doesn't have superfluous nonsense going around. Recommend a viewing.

Wonka - 3.5/10
A movie about a new drug dealer that comes to town and 3 other major dealers want him gone. Awful.

Aquaman 2 - Based/10
I enjoyed it. It had big budget it was bad in that 80's Cannons' movies funny, campy way. James Wan can direct any bad movie that it's at least watchable.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. - fall asleep at the end 1/10
What a fucking dud. It's shit. Watched it because my wife turned it on. Horrible experience.

Poor Things - 6,5/10

Amusing with its inspired bizarre style, some quality (over)acting and a ton of furious jumping with Emma's signature we're gonna bang expression. The usual Lanthings, though the movie ultimately felt flatter than I expected despite its focus on character development.

The Holdovers - 7/10

A dispenser of cozy feels, with heart while staying within the boundaries of realism. The story is ordinary, but Giamatti nails the grumpy professor role and everything comes together nicely. Well, almost everything ☉ ‿ ⚆
