This looks like a console gamer type game but I like a lot of Capcom's newer games and so far nothing 2024 has interested me. What would anyone that's played the first one say about this game?
is it a casual open world button masher like Forspoken / Horizon blah blah and the many other similar games in that vein? Or does this have some challenge / souls like bosses etc? Is the progression solely just XP, minigames, grind and unlock, or are there also puzzles and dungeons etc.
I've skimmed some of the videos and it all looks pretty generic, some of the artstyle is pretty cool.

There are tons of previews and experiences in this thread, just read.
The game is a souls like lite. Everyone can beat it, but you can make it challenging it you like and there is a little more focus on exploration and story and it's not all about big bos fights.
the much bigger RPG elements in this game naturally differentiate it from something like a Souls game, but Souls is definitely one of the inspirations
I would not count it among games like Forspoken, AssCreed or Horizon, since I love dragon's dogma and Souls to death while I'm not very interested in those (to me kinda boring) open world games.
the combat is kinda like mixing Souls with Monster Hunter or something along those lines.
it's deliberate, you get animation locked so you gotta be careful what you do and when, and I enjoy that type of combat.
my opinion is based on DD1 obviously, but should be accurate enough
perhaps if you are someone who likes Souls for the pure solo experience avoiding summons like the plague, then you probably won't enjoy dragon's dogma, since the party aspect is a big part of it
I personally love Souls but I also really enjoy having AI companions in games so it's pretty much made for me.
Likot Mosuskekim, Woodcutter cancels Sleep: Interrupted by Elephant.
Playing sole is not a lot harder since you don't have to split xp between pawns, you'll level faster without them. Pawns, at least in DD1, tend to die a lot against harder enemies and aren't of much use when it realy matters anyways.
You can play MKB and rebind keys. But controller is better, although aiming with a controller is hell. The game uses a lot of auto aiming though and some skills are designed with the knowledge that aiming with a controller is impossible.
I'd say for a character creator they actually are perfect. if this was a 3D modelling program like Blender where you have 100% control of the mesh then sure, maybe someone could have tiny bit of critique or suggestions.
yeah fuck i just have no patience for it. i remember like 18-20'ish years ago or so when they started popping up and get more advanced, i spent a good amount of time doing my character. these days i'm done after 5 minutes
the most fun was to make REALLY ugly characters in those boxing or wrestling games so that you get to see them in the intro when they walk into the ring. You can just die laughing when everyone is cheering at you looking like a mix of Hitler and Sloth
Haha, yes, making an ugly troll is always fun. This creator is very good, you can create some really ugly mingers
Going to be interesting to see what characters other players have made. Kind of a fun system in that way, and of course it makes it more worth spending time in the character creatator perhaps since other people can meet that character.
• Blindly walks in random directions, ignores quest markers and says he has no idea where to go.
• Continuously spams weak attack and doesn’t use any of his skills or his shield. Tells chat skills are bad because they don’t have damage numbers and use (infinite recharging) stamina so weak attacks are better.
• Gets told by the game to stock up on equipment before leaving town, ignores and walks out with a rusty sword and complains he does no damage.
• Insists chat is wrong about being able to equip clothing and armour at the same time as he keeps swapping between two items of armour, ignores all the UI right in front of him.
• Doesn’t use any items but continuously picks absolutely everything up.
• Decides against learning any new skills or upgrades because one person in chat told him to “save them up”.
• Says he doesn’t know what to do whilst simultaneously the pawns are telling him exactly what to do repeatedly and he just ignores them.
• Sees witchwood on the map and tries to walk there directly from Cassardis. Ignores the roads and borders on the map, just tries to do a direct line and climb up a map boundary instead.
• Goes out at night and just wanders around blindly without using any light source.
• Says he doesn’t want to play anymore of the game on stream because it’s too complex and he has no idea what’s going on.
Most of this isn’t even backseating, it’s just either basic reading comprehension or having played more than a single video game in your life to know how these things work.
