Pretty sure they wouldn't have been cleaned out if they weren't making money on it though right?
2.4m seems low, they probably made that or more thru Gen Patreon. I thought it was common knowledge making money on these kind of endeavours is a really bad idea.

The yuzu guys were always careless, I remember when they wanted to launch Raptor
a paid multiplayer replacement service, and then pulled it within hours or so, probably their lawyer yelling at them to stop that shit real quick
They should have never given Nintendo an inch.
Ryujinx won't have the same problem, and CEMU never had the same problem. And the latter even supported native online play through Nintendo servers if you pulled the files from your own console
Just gotta know where the line is

https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2024/03/heres-how-the-makers-of-the-suyu-switch-emulator-plan-to-avoid-getting-sued/
Quote: | After consulting with an unnamed "someone with legal experience" (Sharpie would only say "they claimed three years of law school"), the Suyu development team has decided to avoid "any monetization," Sharpie said. The project's GitLab page clearly states that "we do not intend to make money or profit from this project," an important declaration after Nintendo cited Yuzu's profitability a few times in its recent lawsuit. Other emulator makers also told Ars that Yuzu's Patreon opened the project up to a set of pesky consumer demands and expectations.
The Suyu devs have also been warned against "providing step-by-step guides" like the ones that Yuzu offered for how to play copyrighted games on their emulator. Those guides were a major focus of Nintendo's lawsuit, as were some examples of developer conversations in the Yuzu Discord that seemed to acknowledge and condone piracy. |
Quote: | The No. 1 rule listed on the Suyu Discord is that "piracy is prohibited." That includes any talk about downloading games or "asking for system files, ROMs, encryption keys, shader caches, and discussion of leaked games etc." Even a mention of the word piracy with regard to legal questions is enough to earn a warning on the Discord, according to those rules. |
Quote: | The team's slow public rollout is by design, Sharpie said, "both for legal reasons and because we want to have more tangible progress to show before providing any compiled builds." But that plan has already been spoiled somewhat by what Sharpie said was "the sheer size and growth of this [Discord] server [which] makes us much more popular than we would have preferred." |

Missed those messages condoning piracy. Only seen warnings being thrown around for even hinting at piracy. Seen people being banned for posting logs which included pirated games

Cemu and Ryujinx still both have an active patreon for supporters, both made plenty of money, especially Cemu in it's hay-day
But neither Yuzu or cemu or ryujinx force you to pay for anything, they're open source (cemu is now anyway) and with yuzu it was only the latest compiled binaries that were locked behind patreon, Cemu did that too tho

Apparently Lime replaced Citra, as fork of the main emulator as Citra itself shutdown.

I don't get it. Nintendo targeted Switch, not 3DS. Why would they change it?

Oh. They recorded telemetry data that Nintendo used against them. Yay. Let's hope other emu-developers will remember that.

Is there a Paterererreron or GoHurrDurrMe or OnlyFans I can throw money at, so that Nintendo shuts this down too?

Lol. Yuzu runs better 95% of the times. Yes, ryujinx has had better compability on brand new games, but fall short performance wise in general.

Having used both Switch emulators over hundreds of ROMs on a decent PC, I don't find performance an issue on Ryujinx. To each their own I suppose.
