Quote: | To Dragon's Dogma 2 players on Steam
To all Dragon's Dogma 2 players
We would like to update you on the status of the following items, about which we have received numerous comments from the community. To all those looking forward to this game, we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.
■Crashes and bug fixes
We are investigating/fixing critical problems such as crashes and freezing.
We will be addressing crashes and bug fixes starting from those with the highest priority in patches in the near future.
■The option of starting a new game
We are looking at adding a feature to the Steam version of the game that will allow players that are already playing to restart the game. We will announce more details as soon as we can.
■Paid DLC
All the items listed below can be obtained in-game or as paid DLC items.
Art of Metamorphosis - Character Editor
Ambivalent Rift Incense - Change Pawn Inclinations
Portcrystal - Warp Location Marker
Wakestone - Restore the dead to life!
500 Rift Crystals / 1500 Rift Crystals / 2500 Rift Crystals - Points to Spend Beyond the Rift
Makeshift Gaol Key - Escape from gaol!
Harpysnare Smoke Beacons - Harpy Lure Item
■Regarding Frame Rate
A large amount of CPU usage is allocated to each character and calculating the impact of their physical presence in various areas. In certain situations where numerous characters appear simultaneously, the CPU usage can be very high and may affect the frame rate. We are aware that in such situations, settings that reduce GPU load may currently have a limited effect; however, we are looking into ways to improve performance in the future.

Game is fine, fun game. Worthy sequal. Performance could be better but it's not gamebreaking. It's more of a wtf is it rendering for this CPU/GPU load then that the game is unplayable cause the game looks kinda avarage, but this game is not about graphics for me. I run this with a 6 year old rig and it's just fine in 1440p. Some stutters in city but that's with every game with my ancient rig and it's probably a weird bug, it will be fixed. Microtransactions suck. But you can earn the stuff so easy in game so yeah, blunder by Capcom to include it but it isn't affecting the game in anyway.
But people like to hate i guess.
They should add extra saveslots ASAP though for multiple playthroughs, that's just stupid. Doubt they will do it though.

Everything else is EXACTLY what I wanted a sequel to Dragon's Dogma to be.
It's brilliant, extremely fun and exploration is super rewarding.
The graphics are more than good enough and I love the more realistic color palette (same as the first one).
Very immersive gameplay.
But the performance (at least for me) is just too bad, I don't want to ruin the game with it.
I do have quite an old CPU at this point (though it has handled everything up until now) and I'm waiting for the next line up of AMD CPUs before upgrading.
Hope they fix the performance issues soon.
Here's my rig:
8700k @ 4.5 ghz
Nvidia RTX 3080
32gb ram
Installed on SSD (not NVME)
Running at 3440x1440 with DLSS set to Quality Mode (Auto made no real FPS difference, just looked worse) and a mix of high and medium settings (they don't really do much either).
In the open world I get between 40-60 fps, the 40 drops feel extremely jarring and for me completely unplayable.
In the city I get like 30 fps, which yeah, unplayable.
So now you know what to expect if you do give it a try. |
With your rig you should go 1440p indeed.
I'm not saying that the game is good performance wise, it isn't. But you have a midrange GPU. It can't 4k everything, although it's often the games fault, 4k ing will not make you a happy gamer.
IMHO 4k gaming makes no sense, it just kills your FPS for no real benefit.

Not exactly.
You can still fast travel, it's "just" a convenience cheat.
Basically, nothing you can't achieve with cheatengine yourself if you want. |
You and I both know they designed the game loop to include incentives for users to buy micro transactions.
Yea sure, you can use cheatengine, but that's just extra steps.
Look at Horizon: Forbidden West release... it's amazing and without bullshit.
My specs:
Ryzen 5950x @ boosting 5ghz, Gigabyte x570 Aorus Master, 128gb G.Skill Trident Neo pc3600 ram, nVidia RTX 5080, SoundBlasterX G6, Samsung 980 Pro m.2 1TB and Hynix m.2 1TB storage SSD. Custom watercooling loop.
Derpsole: Nintendo Switch, Derpstation 5 Pro

One has to wonder what they use to develop and test (LOL) these games on. If it were me I would use PC's of the specs most serious game players have now, not something NASA uses to work out planet trajectories
But, admittedly I know nothing about game developing, but it really is as if they use something that only a few corporations can afford.
It's like developing a run around car for your average Joe and then telling him he needs rocket fuel to run it

I love the smell of B52 reviews in the morning.
EDIT
Still, 198,906 players are now playing this one.
Guess the tolerance for corporate shite is very high nowadays...

Yeah its abysmal, honestly think it's denuvo and their mtx greed as opposed to the engine not being up to the task.
Fuuu three pretty piss poor game releases in a week. I thought at least one of these three games would be playable. May just have to wait another week for PoE new league..
Shit games and the derps that buy and allow this to happen.

Well they said create a new character not change appearance, so sorry if I thought they were talking about creating a new character when you already have a save game. My humble apologies.

Besides all the performance issues and the DLC (whatever, it's just the bonus edition stuff and the items are worthless, just ignore it), game is kinda avarage. A lot of Dragon's Dogma yank is fixed, but besides that there is little interesting stuff going on. Game is way easier, so the feeling of progressing to a certain point that you can finaly beat a certain chokepoint is gone. The enemies feel like fillers. Basically you are walking on an endless road killing mobs every 10 seconds with the occasional big enemy. That's the game. And in the first game it felt fresh and now it's more of a done that allready thing. For example first game goblins are starter enemies and the are hardish at start and you progress to thougher stuff. This game just throws an endless spree of goblins at you that are filler from the beginning and that's the first hours of game. And then you'll see a bandit and a those crocodile enemies and they die a little slower but still, no challange.
Worst part of the game is indoor fighting. It's broken cause of the camera, you are fighting in the blind and you'll end up being pushed against a wall after being attacked by an enemy you couldn't see and then 3 or 4, most of them inivisble take turns on you. Only solution is level up and hope the pawns take care of things.

Ya that's the other thing that's not being talked about, just the flat quality of the game even if MTX, one save and it runs like shit weren't a problem.
Compare this game to Witcher 3 released in 2015. Ability to climb on bosses is cool, also some of the monster designs and animation are good (which is weird because NPCs and the PC animations are horrible), having companions is nice.
Witcher 3 performs better, looks better, combat is better, camera is better, controller/M+KB is better, Story is better, UI/UX better.. not much about this new game even competes with an almost 10 year old game.

Is combat really better in Witcher 3 I love that game, but wow, the combat kills it for me, it's so fucking bad.
But yeah, it was an otherwise outstanding game that came out in 2015 and today we get games like this and Rise of Ronin and people claim they look good?? No they fucking don't, ~11 years ago, yes, these games would've been 9/10 for graphics.
And don't just look at textures or the rendering method, look at how they made the nature (meshes) in Witcher 3, it's so natural looking with the occasional natural dirt walls and roots coming out of it. If you're a lot in nature you realize how little most games takes such things into account, and you will see that everywhere, yet they don't give a shit, a dirt ground texture and some elevation and some rocks, two types of grass and some trees - nature! lol.
Kingdom Come is also great looking, also old now. Terrrible combat as well unfortunately.

Think this game needed another 6-12 months of development. That's the whole problem.
My thief is now running around in panties with suspensers for a 20% increase in stats that I found in a chest.
Sure, if you want to, you should and it can be fun for laughs. But min-maxing forces you to run around in panties cause the devs didn't made a male version, that's a joke.
Weird thing is though that besides the FPS issues, there are not a lot of quest bugs like you would see in your avarage unfinished game.
