I finally finished it after all this time. What a game, what a fucking game and what a game this could have been if not for Bethesda's rushing and QA.

I still don't get it though. How an open world as good as New Vegas, which I would call an evolution from Morrowind and Gothic 2, didn't become the blueprint for open world games in general. Instead, we got Ubisoft's generic checklist design everywhere.

The world of New Vegas is imo rather weak, i'd say worse than FO3 in terms of interesting locations and design (FO3 is absolutely not great either here, but decent). So i absolutely would not want it as some sort of blue print for that.

Though of course it has some great stuff in it too, just not in terms of locations / level design, that feels pretty rushed. I do like the game (so much that i spent one year+ on a mod for it).

Unmodded btw, what a waste Smile The fixes for this game alone are incredible and makes the game run so much better.

Welcome to the club Nodrim

It is an anomaly in all its brilliant jankiness, one that will never be replicated because the talent is no longer there and the general decline of the industry alongside its audience can't provide fertile soil for something perceived as a framework from the Holocene. Although Fallout 1 and 2 will always have a special corner inside my shelter (especially the former which was mind-blowing back then), I'd say New Vegas is my favourite Fallout game in terms of pure writing/quest design and actual exploration.

I still remember the "hell yeah, now that's more like it" feeling that I got from going to playing through Fallout 3 to experiencing New Vegas - little did I know that all my hopes would be completely shattered and my bitterness increased tenfold about five years later. Then The Outer Worlds also came out and it merely reinforced what was already known.

I did play this back in the day, but I can't remember what made me stop. Probably I sided with House and I didn't want to kill BoS. Mr. Green

The sense of exploration in this one is fantastic. I was compelled to explore and felt rewarded for doing it.

I'm not done with it, I want to try some of the DLCs as well.

Yeah, use Wabbajack. Modding the old games is frustrating as fuck otherwise.

I linked it above and it's very, very easy

Automated install of hundreds / thousands of mods. Sometimes there are manual steps, but it's all written out clearly and far easier than doing it from scratch

I need to jump in here and amend this with this very important warning before anyone gets their hopes up -

This program, while great in theory, only works if you've paid the censoring cucks at Nexus Mods for a premium subscription. Otherwise, you will have to click "Slow Download", Wait 5 Seconds, Wait For the Download to finish - HUNDREDS OF TIMES (in my case, trying to install the Welcome To Paradise pack for Fallout 4, 403 TIMES.) Not really a viable option if you don't pay them.

I got a 'free' lifetime premium account for designing / coding their site, never really thought about the cost of that

Normally I wouldn't have a problem throwing a few bucks their way given how (at least apparently) seamless and simple that Wabbajack program makes of what would otherwise be a monumental task. i can't do that in good conscience anymore however given the shit they pull with removing mods that don't fit their worldview.

It's a shame Wabbajack can't somehow integrate the downloads in an automatic queue (like Nexus' Vortex Mod manager - which, while confusing and I hate utterly, at least does THAT part easily with a free account).

Man, got my hopes up and everything after snatching FO 4 GOTY for like $8 off GMG (like 10 years too late? Very Happy) Ah well.

Basically saying that:

Launch of Fallout: London is delayed until after the major patch. It's basically done, but the update would ruin too many fundamental things, and they want to avoid the launch having complications. No set release date, will only launch it after they can verify everything is fixed. Could be as quick as a week or two, could be as long as a month or so, as there are numerous individual mods from unrelated creators that will likely be broken and need to be updated for the mod to work.

They are positive that the update will be a net positive for the mod as well, and are happy to see Bethesda continuing to update Fallout 4. That being said, they mention that they've had only minimal contact from Bethesda, and haven't been contacted by Bethesda despite being featured on social media and loading screens (which was done through the community manager). Thus, the update was a surprise to them as well.

Mod is huge (30-40GB) and finding somewhere to upload was a struggle, but GOG offered support and it'll be able to be used on GOG, Steam, and hopefully even Epic Games. Mod won't be on console platforms. They'd stated also that they would love to make the mod standalone, but haven't had contact from Bethesda that would allow it.
Good job todd-ler and the other retards at bethesda.
They must have god-like DSP tier luck for the community simply not to turn their backs on them with shit like this being a sadly normal occurrence. Now that I think about it, the DSP comparison is apt because they are as deluded and retarded as he is Laughing

im more worried about how many hoops im gonna have to jump through to be able to get that mod working ...

besides a nod like that, ur better of waiting another year so they fix most issues, unlike bethesda, modders actually tend to fix their shit ....

i wonder how bethesda boosted their fps to 60 when their physix engine is tied to frames per second and coded for 24-30 ?

Always count on the Bethoddmen when it comes to self-sabotaging behaviours and general laziness, as illustrated by the not-so-next jizz nature of the "update" on PC. Waiting a bit more isn't an issue at this point, I just hope the mod can deliver writing/quest-wise despite all the technical Bryohurdles. It would be nice to have another Enderal, but that's an exceptionally high bar Razz

Man this game suffers from some factionitis. What is this you may ask? Well, you have your fortresses spread around the map with lots of completely generic npc's with no quests or anything that serves just as a quest for the opposing faction. It seems to increase further into the game and it fucking sucks. Spend 5-10 minutes hunting npc's, pc's or whatever only to find out there is nothing.

Wish the game had some way to tell you when you're wasting time or if a area has something of interest.

Settled on Begin again + Millenia weapons + disabled a bunch of UI stuff

Never played A Tale of Two Wastelands before, not sure how it'll work as it seems like by the time you get to NV you will be OP?

Real recoil, B42, being able to LEAN and a few other things are nice changes I haven't seen before Very Happy

Anyway...

There is a mod where you get robbed for most of your stuff. Not everything, but most. Otherwise you'd best start a new game and instantly change to New Vegas if you plan to finish FO3 first.

Thanks for the reminder

Last time I gave up the playthrough, it was due to Dead Money. Barely made it through Old World Blues before that.

They're really awful

Before Far Harbour I don't think Bethesda ever made a decent DLC that was set somewhere else

There's some good new lists for this game BTW:
