Yea that one is still probably months if not years away
They managed to get the required data out of the headset but to get motion tracking, rendering etc. working perfectly on a complex propietary non-pcvr headset like that is a behemoth of a task
they basically gotta write everything themselves, a whole driver, for a sophisticated third party device
all through reverse engineering
the work that goes into the software side of VR headsets, the algorithms and even machine learning just so that your head in VR moves as yours irl, same for controllers, all at low latency is astounding
Meanwhile super excited for the Quest 3
G2 resolution but with pancake lenses, prolly the best AR experience on the market until the Apple Vision Pro, I mean 10 times the passthrough res of the quest 2, in color and with a depth sensor plus that twice as fast onboard chip
gon be good, controllers without rings too
gonna break your hands instead of the plastic

Ah I wasn't aware that despite the dependency on a PS5 they're still doing so much on the headset itself
wonder how glitchy it is but that does indeed not look years away

Might not take as long as you think, they're doing pretty well.
of course months might still be accurate. I doubt it'll be out in 2 weeks or something
but doesn't look like years for sure. |
yeah looks good, thanks for the heads up, might even pick one of these up
the lcd headsets can't compare for vr and my vive is damn old
i don't spend a lot of time in VR at the moment but it's super good when i run simulators.
