Complete overhaul or so they say! I picked it up for $29.99 Steam sale. Well worth a buy in my opinion. But only if you like this style of game and Warhammer Universe. |
The new update doesn't look that great. They sped up the combat without adjusting the animations to this new speed and it looks horrible. The game has a ton of major issues and I doubt one "miracle" update is enough.

I probably have over 100 hours in this game. I had high hopes for it and as a Warhammer 40k fan I really wanted Martyr to succeed. But that shift in design has left us with a crippled game.

100 hours!! HOLY SHIT! I wouldn't of lasted that long if I didn't like the game Hahaha. I barely play longer than 4 hours with a game I love???

It's complicated and some of those hours are from the beta as well. I love the universe so I kept trying in the first months after release. But the game was quite messy. The endgame didn't deliver so I gave up. I tried again recently, no notable improvements and the video about 2.0's combat didn't look good at all.

After a few hours it just rince and repeat. No new skills, no interesting loot - the old system based on loot level, not character level which is just bad design. And worst kind for hack'n'slash were loot should be priorty and interesting builds just behind.
I was waiting for the 2.0 version but after what Nodrim wrote I just don't know if it's worth it.

Well, Standalone isn't bad, it means you don't have to buy the main game. You still keep your characters etc.

Quote: | Inquisitors,
With our recent sale of Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr Definitive Edition many of you wondered whether this might be a sign of imminent delisting or some kind of ceasing of online services. This is absolutely, definitely not the case.
We believe in preserving our work for future players, so Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr is not going to be delisted nor become unusable. This is true for all DLCs also. The game was conceived as an online experience and it was presented in an online mode for a reason. However, we'd also like to ensure that everybody can play, so naturally, we have plans to add an offline mode sometime in the near future, with an additional surprise!
In short: Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr will not be purged from existence. There's one simple reason for this:
The Emperor Protects. |

The reason the Devs posted that info is because they just released the Definitive Edition and it was 90% off and even at that price a lot of people were saying they were going to skip it because of it being always online.
I picked up the Definitive Edition for $9 a few days before they posted that Offline mode info but was waiting to play it in case I had to return it since Space Wolf is getting delisted on October 12 so was not sure if maybe this was like their last-ditch effort sale before they lost the license also. I will still probably wait to play it since the new Diablo IV season starts in a week so I really cannot play 2 of these sort of grindy games at the same time.

They couldn't fix the Neocore junk. I'm not sure is the engine, the limited budget or their lack of expertise. Maybe a little bit from each. It's a shame, because this one had a lot of great things in it.
