Obviously more than 2 channels exist for decades, but the content for 5.1 and 7.1 is more available than ever before, especially 7.1.
You couldn't find the same amount of 5.1 and 7.1 of movies like you can nowadays.
This is so wrong, the vast vast vast majority of DVDs of films that had a 5.1 mix created for cinema carried it, and in so many cases they even created a 5.1 mix for films that never had one before.
By mid to late 90s every film had a 5.1 mix in its theatrical showing - which was of course repurposed for home video (a little modified).
You are 20 years late

What dvd didn't come with 5.1 mixing? You'd be hard pressed to find any unless it's some janky movie no one cares about. Dolby Digital started with Laserdiscs lol.
@consolitis, SpykeZ, yea, I underestimated the 5.1 availability, but I was a kid in those years, so I guess I just didn't remembered right.
still.. its not the same level as "available" as today, in those days, early 2000s most of the high quality and serround was mostlys DVDs, Now digital disruption and 5.1 from TV and network channels like netflix you can find these stuffs more common, even 4k become "standards" for new TV series, in Israel most of the channels I have are still 720p 2 channels

I'm certainly not buying such subpar effort -- will wait for next remaster in 10 years.

Notice how unnecessary the entire conversion is. There is just no detail enough in the current master to warrant an HDR. It's been sharpened, which in these static shots is evident.
He certainly does, I enjoy watching his in-depth analysis sprinkled with dry humour.
Usually he is the first one on Youtube to point out a new faux-pas by the usual companies like LG, Sony or Samsung, 2 hours later there are suddenly 100 videos about the same thing by the other "experts".
Well, that's true about anything technical. Most utuber tardos are not technical, they are character that for some reason, people want to watch. So once shit hits the fan and someone actually knows what they are talking about, the utub retards just show it off as their own, and don't even credit where they learned the info. When RDR2 was released with broken HDR implementation, those morons were sucking some Rockstar cock, until the Vincent channel (by EvilBoris, not Vincent) showed the technical info on how broken it was, then suddenly every utub retarded became an expert in HDR.
TheOneRing.net made a really long video about the 4K release and spoke for like 1h about how amazed they were by the 4K release. But i'm pretty sure they're paid, i've noticed they also mention Amazon a lot and how amazing e.g some LOTR audio book is from there (with link etc).
Also seems like they've gone retard-woke.. I got banned for saying Tolkien was not a racist (when leftist retards claimed he was on their FB page). Kind of horrifying to see so many LOTR fans hating on Tolkien on their page. Why the hell do they even support his work if they think he was Hitler (he actually hated nazis and racism, but these people are just clueless about him as a person).
‘The Lord of the Rings’ Trilogy Returning to Theaters, Remastered and Extended
Warner Bros. and Fathom Events are teaming to rerelease the Oscar-winning fantasy blockbusters this summer.
The versions screened will be Jackson’s extended editions (so you might want get the jumbo tub of popcorn), and also the versions that the filmmaker remastered in 2020 for a 4K Ultra HD rerelease. This is the first time the remastered versions will be in theaters.
The screenings will start with 2001’s The Fellowship of the Ring on June 8, then 2002’s The Two Towers on June 9, followed by 2003’s The Return of the King on June 10.
So the terrible remustard versions Hollywood is so creatively bankrupt, they don’t even remake anymore, just rerelease. And for who? For a ztard audience that goes to cinema less and less. They probably think this will enthuse the audience for the second season of their turd Amazon show with the shaven negress dwarf…
i'm really losing respect for Peter Jackson for approving that release. Like he couldn't give 2 fucks about it and never really looked at it and much less compared to the theatrical (i mean that would probably take him at least 3-4 minutes to do!). That green filter they added is beyond terrible, the person / team who did this should be fucking black listed.
it's not even like they looked at certain scenes and thought, maybe we could add a bit of this tint here, but not in that scene. no, just a lazy "let's put this cool instagram filter i found over the entire footage."
I was just reading a bit about first Burton Batman movie in 4K and people said that they added a teal filter to that movie. So maybe it is a Warner Brothers thing when they were updating the films since New Line Cinema is part of Warner Brothers.
I can only guess that for something like an extended version there could be scenes where they need to tie it together with the rest, and the easiest thing is to just add a filter so it looks consistent from scene to scene. Super, super lazy though. I mean it's regarded as one of the best book adaptations of all time, yet they treat it like its some crappy b-movie that maybe 100 people will watch or something. it has many millions of fans.
