Now...I'm not a 'movie' person by any means only watch one a couple times a year when wife was already going to be watching one and I sit down to eat/whatever..so take my take on it with a grain of salt:

3/10: A mediocre movie with over drawn out comedy bits (losing the 80s snap and quick 'joke -> move on' that made them good.) pacing in the humor.
It leans heavy on the:
- This 4/10 scene will be 8/10 if we play music from the old ones.
- And fan tributes that feel less like a nod and dignified well done callback, and more pandering in a way that is parallel to a used car dealer offering you a low effort handjob under the table in a desperate bid to seal the car sale.

To me this was "I want Beverly hills cop" "We got Beverly hills cop at home" vibe.

An attempt to rehash the 80's era charm with new age cinema and failing at both. If it wasn't for the eagerness to re-see the actors do the roles, and the copious amount of 'member berries' audio and soundtrack this would be a 'on DVD in 3 weeks' type movie.
If you (I think) judge it on its own merit, and not giving it +2 just because of what it is, and +1 because "Ah that song makes me think of the old ones!". Its pretty generic.
Strip away the 'instant positive bonus' it gets for playing nostalgic music, and having characters you loved as a crutch to use. It's a run of the mill "Oh yea..that was a movie a few years ago wasnt it?" presence.

It cant stand on it's own without the BHC skinsuit (If this was a new random franchise comedy movie) . And it barely manages to use the shoulders of the old ones to boost its 'likability' using it like a spoon of sugar to make the medicine the movie itself is, go down.

Good to see John Ashton (Chief John Taggart) still alive and kicking. Men, that's 40 years passed since the first movie. Very Happy

Excellent sequel! Just like the original. Same soundtrack, same type of scenes, same actors, same type of jokes. Well done! Go see this! Eddie and crew are back!!
