No birthday (yet) but I'm sure getting old and fat too. Dammit, my brother in law, who turned 16 some days ago, was with us for two months... and during a discussion he asked me if I remembered those flat things that we put in the computers and initially I didn't understand what he was talking about. Then his sister (20) said "ah you mean the square ones? ehm.. Disk... Diskette!" - "Ah yes, right, diskette!"
And I just sat there in silence thinking how old I became. Those "kids" don't know diskettes. She said "yeah well, we had them in our computer classes and stored stuff on them but now we don't use that any more and we lost so much time learning that useless stuff" and I was all "IT'S STILL THE SAME CONCEPT, IF YOU WRITE ON A DISK OR A USB STICK IT DOESN'T MATTER"... And then I thought about USB sticks.. the next generation won't know what that shit is... The questions will be "Why do you store stuff locally?"
He had a disk drive in his computer but he never used em. In every game you see the diskette as the save symbol.. I guess they are just used to it.
I'm getting old. Oh and you as well

Fun fact: Apparently in South Africa they called the 3.5" disks "Stiffies".
As in, when you need to borrow a disk "Does anyone have a spare stiffy?"
