@Reklis: You don't need to play the first one to understand the story, but it's recommended since you'd be missing out some names and references.

I never touched witcher 1 and witcher 2 was still awesome. Just don't expect to go anything higer than low-medium settings with your setup though

Hey, it's probably more than I would have gotten before. And as long as it runs decently I'm ok with it.

But Witcher 2 could be interesting. Do I need to have finished The Witcher in order to understand TW2? |
No. But it is recomended, for understanding of more:1 part lore, 1 part characters that continue with you, 1 part understanding the "evolution" (debatable) of the fights model.
Why did you never played it, now thats beyond my grasp. And that goes for Nexus:the jupiter incident, too.

I played it. I just never finished it. I think I didn't even get that far in. I don't know why. It just never captivated me. Really can't say why.

:::Arise, thread, from your ancient slumber:::
So, with my decent rig arriving next week, I want to play games I've missed out on during the past 6–8 years or so because of their HW demands. I should be able to run everything and anything in 1080p@60fps on max. settings on my new PC. Can you recommend some great games I might have missed?
Here's my backlog so far:
SW Jedi Survivor
Space Marine 2
CP 2077
Alan Wake 2
Hellblade 2
Helldivers 2

From looking at your current backlog list I assume you'd enjoy other action games so the best ones (and not so obvious at that) I can think at the moment are:
Days Gone
Nioh 2
Control

You say 6-8 years, so you might want to play Read Dead Redemption 2 if you haven't. It's probably the best game in that time period.

Cheers, I have played all of the above except for Control. I have it on EGS, too. Yeah, I mostly prefer action games, although will take anything other than sports games and simulations. Or platformers, which I suck at.
Agree that RDR2 is probably one of the best games, ever.
I think I have played most of the really great games, such as DOOM, GTA V and God of War, but I'm sure there's something I have missed.

Some more titles that I enjoyed and haven't been mentioned yet:
Kingdom Come Deliverance
Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition
Elden Ring
Death Stranding
System Shock Remake
Resident Evil 2/3/4 Remake and RE 7/8
nuHITMAN Trilogy
Heavily modded STALKER Anomaly
The most obvious picks for visual candy currently are CP2077 with path tracing (which I've been playing for the past couple of months) and RDR2 which is still very impressive in terms of attention to detail and general atmosphere. Alan Wake 2 also makes good use of new hardware, though in my opinion the game itself is a step below the greats (the same applies to the ray-traced CONTROL).
On a related note, if anyone wants to replay Prey since first-person immersive sims are practically defunct these days, I'd recommend this mod for the enhanced lighting/shadows/AO/reflections: https://www.nexusmods.com/prey2017/mods/22

Death Stranding is actually very good once you finish the first chapter. Took me 3 years and 4 tries to finally push through the first chapter though..

I could never get into Prey, honestly. Got bored of it during the intro part. Does it get better later on?
@ixi: Believe it or not, I was able to play the games you mentioned on my ancient 4-core CPU as well. I guess my GPU (GTX 1660) is holding up really nicely.

IMO it does, I felt that the start was slow until it opens up and finally shows you the reality of the place you're in.
I think it's better than both Dishonored games (just to name 2 previous games from the same developer), and I already thought those were very good games.
