Well, ublock has apparently blocked 9.048 million adds since installed on this laptop in october last year. I don't even want to think what the internet looks like with no addblocker these days.

Is ublock the best extension?

Maybe, I can only say that I've never had issues with it myself. I'm also on firefox though, so that might change things, since I'm fairly sure chrome at least is trying to mess with addblockers.

I'm using AdBlock Ultimate + Youtube Adblock which removes all ads including ads that usually play when you watch youtube clips.
I also use Privacy Badger:
"Privacy Badger is a browser extension that stops advertisers and other third-party trackers from secretly tracking where you go and what pages you look at on the web. If an advertiser seems to be tracking you across multiple websites without your permission, Privacy Badger automatically blocks that advertiser from loading any more content in your browser. To the advertiser, it’s like you suddenly disappeared."

+ PopUpOFF

It is definitely, I have to keep changing/updating my adblockers. At the moment I only have Ublock activated and it seems to be coping. But Chrome keeps pushing out updates. So we will see. I guess it is a bit of a cat and mouse game. Chrome push out an update so Ublock does and so on.
Might have to fully switch to Firefox
And thanks for the tip about Privacy Badger

Quote: | YouTube is increasing subscription prices outside the US, affecting both individual and family plans.
The price hike differs per region, with some seeing changes between 30% to 50%.
Youtube is also implementing ads when the video is paused. |

Well, they sure as hell finally flipped the switch today as I'm now getting 1 or 2 unskipabble adds right before any video begins, even with the latest uBlock

Firefox with ublock seems to be doing fine at avoiding all adds still, at least for me.

if your LG TV is not android, get an android TV stick/box and install smartube from github. no ads + sponsorskip + access to higher bitrate "premium 1080p"

FireMaster: ah thanks, i'll look into that.
If, eventually, it becomes unskippable i think a lot of people will look for alternatives to youtube. I mean, 1 minute of fucking ads, no way..

Same. I was finally having issues with Chrome not keeping all the filthy ads at bay by design (what a rotten way to die) and switched back to the Fox, so far so good. It only took some minutes to import and organize everything, let's hope it lasts :')

These seem to be embedded on (some of) the videos at the very start, no chance to skip, not even DDOS'ing the page until the video loads

Added some lines on the "My filters" tab on ublock origin and it sort of sorted the issue... but it took a while? Seems like that they ended up changing something and then rolling it back?
Now it also seems like it randomly switches the video quality down?

If your webos is not too old on that TV you can check webos dev manager app to install a homebrew version of YT with sponsor and adblocks similar to YT (Re)Vanced: https://github.com/webosbrew/dev-manager-desktop
It works on my LG TV from 2021 which only had an update to webos 7, not the newer 23 and 24 versions.
The only caveat is that you have to extend the TV's developer mode once every 999h, but it can be run with a script etc. I used to hae a IFTTT trigger set for that, but now even simple GET request are paid in the free account, so I have to do it manually or run a script
