First ep felt like an Army recruitment ad, but then it became Call of Duty: The Series. Which is quite enjoyable against all odds. And it all boils down to a fun formula:
- Family drama part - the most boring one
- Badass military Ops Sicario parts - the best part of the series
- Double Agent tension parts - the engine of change
Yeah, its like the have the Sicario budget to pull off great scenes but they dont invest the time to pre-plan the stuff. Hoping there will be one or two good ones
So, I'm seven episodes into the first season (was bored yesterday), and I'd just like to point out that this suggestion is REALLY fucking hard to do, as it seems to be 30% military/spy stuff, 70% female estrogen drama (whether it be family, relationships, or identity bullshit).
I feel like the first couple episodes made it abundantly clear that this was a show made by women, about women, for women. All the serious stuff takes a back seat only to occasionally poke its head up to push the plot forward a little bit.
This ain't no mil porn. Not by a long shot.
Edit - finished it. Just watch the first episode to get the ground work, and then the last 25 minutes of Episode 8. The rest is just bullshit filler.

Which turned out to be boring and slow.
It is still very poorly communicated what the plan for insertion is. From bits and pieces I got that they wanted to get "some product" from the warehouse to steal or someshit so it would signal to cartels that they need a faster way over the border, establishing a need for a pilot.
But it was all a bit too convoluted.
The tracker is probably some play for a small future special ops scene for saving human trafficking's victims I guess.
Connecting the theory further, my bet would be that we will see the same actors in the Call of Duty movie as in this, and then this series gets more popular if Cod succeeds (in a way to pay back Sheridan)
I was hoping the action/shootout scenes would be better (read: more realistic/believable/sensible) by Season 3, but based on the trailer, that is not to be.
Very, very strong start to the season. Moreover, the action/shooting scenes were actually really well done (except for the use of military dogs, which seemed way too careless).
If this level of quality is maintained throughout, then this is gonna be a fun watch.
Felt like Sheridan turning this in Landman with sprinkle of Joe Rogan brainfarts, uncontrollable emotional outbursts from seasoned soldiers and ofcourse Sheridan being the leadin' man yeehaw.
Seems like with military connections and advisors these people can procure, they would do a better/realistic job of showing Ukraine battlefield in it's more realistic nitty-gritty, considering we know hat it looks like from 4 years of social media. The disconnect is undercooked.
Gotta handle to them for trying to do Call of Duty: Donetsk tho.
Dog use, overwhelming amount of smoke dispersal and night-time knife raids are far more common in 23-24 years of conflict, before the kill zone became 50km wide. But I guess that makes for boring narrative heh
