Hmmmm just started remaster and even with the upscale mod the mansion doesn't look as good as the one from zero. I think the only mods I was using for that one are the same, door skip and framerate fix

They had the original background assets for Zero, so they were able to upscale them much more effectively.
All the original remake background assets were apparently wiped over a decade ago.

What does that FPS fix do? The only mods I've ever used is the fixed background music, the enhanced backgrounds and door skip.

I have not tested this in any sort of way so proceed with caution, found this fix by atom0s:
http://dl.atom0s.com/?dir=Game%20Specific/Resident%20Evil
Seems more up-to-date than your previous fix (TsukiyE's), according to that pcgamingwiki website: https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Resident_Evil_Zero_HD_Remaster#Essential_improvements

Again, clueless on the subject, but :
Quote: | When using 30/60 FPS cap, game speed is tied to frame rate and will slow down underneath that limit. To increase FPS, try using the FPS fix, changing frame rate to variable instead of 60 FPS, turn off AA, and lower the Shadow Quality from High to Medium. |
Wouldn't modern hardware be able to handle a constant framerate, thus rendering the FPS fix pointless, though ?

Last few times I've played Remaster have been at 120 fps, never had any slowdown or stuttering. I'd see how it is first without fixes.

@Steelone: I used the fps fix because I was seeing an odd stutter at the train that went away after I applied the fix. I'll try the RE Remaster without it first.

The lack of storage is a pain in the ass, and some of the enemies are just too fast (leech zombies, especially) while your character takes 15min to swing that molotov cocktail at them.
Starts great at the train, with all the usual classic RE and RE2 descriptions of numerous objects in a room (which I always liked) but after that it's gone.
Menu wise this is the worst game I've ever played, just trash.
Also, the controls seem to be inconsistent when transitioning between backgrounds in some cases, frustrating as hell
Pretty mediocre RE game, now to see if the RERemaster holds up. |
It's the worst classic RE by a long shot. It's not a good game really. It's also totally skippable plotwise.
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."

"a phenomenon."

helps the visuals a bit, especially with the fog and crushed black toggles

A bit disappointing that they didn't even try to retcon it a bit on the remake which came out earlier in 2002, right? At least some throwaway line by petite BJ enthusiast Becky

My head canon has always been that Resident Evil Zero is a dream whilst Rebecca is unconcious during the first game.
Considering that almost none of the events or characters of Zero are ever referenced again, it might as well be that way.

I 've tried replaying RE0HD a 1-2 weeks ago after failing miserably right after the 1st act, so to say (Ya know, where ya begin)
And my 2nd try those weeks ago i reached the 2nd act, but ran out of bullets quickly and had some triggering parts (The first boss for Act 2) like "Gooootta reload again because X character had the best weapon for this"
And the "new type of enemy" made it worst to bypass so yeah, screw it, fuck it. I'd watch a walkthrough online one day, straight to the point, with all cutscenes, and call it a frigging day.
*And here i was playing it to make time for crackey RE3R.. Guess i'll go back to PERSONA 5 ROYAL*

I actually enjoyed Resident Evil 0 HD when I played it last year, I found 1HD a lot easier after it which was kinda of a bummer.

Whoah! Finally finished it. Started it in 2018 and two kids plus one Youtube channel later (almost 6 years after starting the game) I was finally able to complete it. C rank with a bit over 8 hours of gameplay. Steam's counter says 23,5h. It definitely brought some old memories of my friend and me playing RE1 on PSX all day long after the school. Finishing it left and right under 2h or whatever was the lowest time to unlock the grenade launcher.
RE 0 felt like a failed concept. Inventory system was so fustraiting and I literally had to run back to the mansion after reaching the final stage of the game. Why? Well I dropped the grenade launcher and thought I won't need it anymore since I had no ammo for it. The game is extremely brutal in terms of not giving any hints what you might need in the future and what not. Obviously the tank controls, poor hit regs, limited aiming possibilities compared to enemies' movement felt so dated in 2024 (almost in 2025). Now when I'm 40 obviously I don't have time to sit and play this over and over again but I'm glad I was able to squeeze the time and complete if for the sake of nostalgia if anything else.
I have RE 2 Remake in my library so I will give it a shot at some point but now it's time to give some love to my upcoming content.
