Imo stalker 2 is mid.
*Story is so so despite fanservice.
*I wonder how much % you walk and how much you fight.
It got kinda bland for me.
*You ll have a really bad time if you dont stack your carry capacity.
*GFX are pretty on the surface but with time you notice the real uglyness underneath.
*Emissions/bad weather/night time especially in the last part of the game where enenies can one shoot you is annoying
*Your armor gets shredded too fast duarbilitywise.
*Bugs
*Lakes and hills being a hinderance making you even walk more and more.
Imo the game overstayed its welcome and is actually monotonus.
Happy i finally finished it.
I haven't started playing it yet. I installed it, checked it out and then uninstalled it.
I'm in no hurry to jump into it at the moment. I'll wait for the game to mature, for some serious mods to arrive to fix whatever annoyances and issues there are and so on.
If you dont like the settting than you wont enjoy the game.
Story is really-really long. Also can be confusing with all the names/factions coming up.
It's shadow of chernobyl just more map, more weapons, more of everything.
Bugs: its ok. Has some issues but its not cyberpunk 1.0.
Performance: Without Frame generations you will dip into 40-45 FPS (CPU heavy, even a 9800x3d will have 45 fps sometimes)
frame generation is just a gimmick in this engine, you still get the sub60 input lag; i guess the logic is set up that way.
You are correct it does add input lag when your GPU is struggling, however in these CPU limited scenarios the performance is much better with FG on, and the input lag isn't increased.
Finished it and really liked it, got the worst ending ^^
Performance wasnt always great but there is no real downside by turning some sliders down.
The only bug i encountered that was annoying was one of the last fights where the Enemy teleported inside the geometry. Apart from that no issues and i did almost all Quests, had only 2 Sidequests left when i finished.
I expected worse to be fair and got a nice surprise and really liked the Atmosphere like i did back in the days with Clear Sky, CoP wasnt that great imho.
Only thing that needs adressing is the accuracy of the Enemys, especially at nights.
Tried every Engine.ini and optimization mods out there since the past weeks/month, but this one really shines as it "fixes" most of the graphical bugs in the game, and also makes the visuals significantly better. FPS wise, your mileage my vary as usual. It takes some 10-15mins of fiddling to install and make it work, but I must say that I definitely worth it, just download the Ultra+ mod loader first and then the Ultra+ mod, then the updated DLSS binaries + RayReconstruction, load the Ultra+ mod loader, select Gamepass or steam version (you might get some error on startup but its normal), then you load the downloaded Ultra+ archive and launch the game via the manager. You can also go to the settings tab of the mod loader and change several stuff, pretty neat. Be sure to read the instructions tho.
I'm on a 3070ti + R5 3600 + 16GB RAM and this thing really does some sort of black magic for me, sure I've got a 15-20FPS hit in some cases, but FSG-FG is completly playable with very managable input lag when I use it (tho I preffer not), with FG I'm constantly at 60FPS with a solid frametime too
and extract just the textures from those mods.
Makes the game trully shine now with meaningful loot and dificulty. Don't get fooled by the ammount of coupons you can get in the first few hours, you're gonna need them since the economy is more tight now, it also randomizes gear on loot like you can find armor and artifacts on stashes or enemies, Also take some time to read the full mod description.
The mod is constantly updated and it's also compatible with several mods for A-LIFE and other stuff, those are listed near the end of the page
Changes the ambient soundtrack to the good ole stalker games, I find it pretty neat and fits the game very well obviously. Since it's all on ruskie or whatever, just grab the main file and you're good to go.
I have to admit, I'm absolutly loving this game. 100 hours in and I've not scratched the surface yet. I do a lot of wondering, playing the game how I want to then do a few missions etc. Looking forward to the DLC's they have planned.

Glad to hear it's already a great experience in its current state. I'm drooling over thinking how much better it'll be when I decide to play it after they finish fixing the AI
Did they improve anything with the AI? I did see something in the notes but it can be hot air for all i know. I'm also waiting until it's somewhat playable and reminiscent of previous stalker

There's a couple of mods as far as I can tell, which is listed as recomended on that Modular Hard Mode modpage, I think the one called "A life found a way" have some interesting stuff

They definitely made offline a-life a lot more functional. You now see proper movement of NPCs across the world. The online a-life is still very short range and doesn't feel super functional as a result.
There are mods that increase the online radius that apparently have a noticeable effect.
I do actually have faith in GSC fixing a lot of these issues, as there is a lot of implementation in the files that definitely doesn't seem to be working right. The 1.1 patch did improve things a lot.
I know I'm not the most intelligent person in the world, I'll openly admit it, but is it me or am I just missing something when it comes the the artifacts. I read the description of them and honestly I can't make out what they are meant to do The blurb is just lacking information... Apart from that, good game. I would like to see more animations from the AI like in the original games. AI fighting and the winner maybe walking away with a limp or something broken. Give it a bit more realism.

In the next update, or even hot fix, could you tell us if the key binding issue(s) are going to be resolved ? IE: L hard configured to Flashlight. I use RMB for walking not W yet when I goto a ladder I am forced to use W to go up the ladder and S to come back down and not my chosen key.
Many thanks

To cut the story short, here is the list:

• Fixed performance degradation when shooting/aiming on saves with long playtime
• Implemented fixes, that should solve the problem causing saves to be lost on Xbox
• Fixed a random crash related to UI animations.
A fight with the Shader Compilation was among the hardest for all of us in recent days. Please, if your particular shader compilation issue is still present — let us know via our Tech Support Hub.
