I 100%'d the first open region last night. I think the open world could have been better in a few ways:
1. Don't use any of the same open old tropes we've seen 1,000 times before. Towers? Seriously?
2. Random banter between party members. It's utter silence for long periods of time while exploring
3. Let chocobos jump off cliffs and glide down, being stuck on invisible walls sucks
4. Stop letting AI controlled chocobos obfuscate my view
5. Have regional NPCs. Why is everyone everywhere dressed like a 2020 hipster? It made sense in Midgar, the city. Kalm feels like a tourist destination in Bali, which is not at all the feeling I got from the PSX game. Originally it was a mining town for the nearby mythril, then it dried up because of Shinra. It looked run down, not full of douchebags in 3/4 pants sipping lattes. Or at least keep them looking like people from 1996/7, it's so out of place.
Had to try "Rebirth". lol. what a joke of a game. terrible combat, control feels sluggish, everyone looks and acts like a homo. tried these games on the SNES ages ago too, just terrible. The most overrated game series of all time.

Once OP Summons are totaly useless in this itteration at least for the time i played. Just started chapter 3. Characters dont seem to lvl up their materia/weapon skill which is hella annoying.

Just because its not your type, doesnt make it a "joke" or "overrated".

What kind of shit game is that where you have to hit some monster 26234 times with a 3 meter sword just to take out only 10% of it's HP... ?!
Is this your first RPG or Game in general ?
I for myself enjoy Rebirth way more than Remake. Remake was really bland and didnt felt that great overall. But Rebirth has grown on me more and more. The Areas are well done in comparsion.
I had my doubts they could make the world traversel good in any way but they did and it feels like the OG, going from town to town to progress the story.
The only thing that really bugs me is the constant shit chat with Chadley, they could have cut him short by a large amount. Also i would like to have seen more hidden stashes and stuff with Gear etc. to find like in the OG, there is no real incentive to search even the mapcorners for a secret hideout.
I hope in Reunion they implement all 5 Weapon fights like originally planned back in the days and we also get to the other optional parts you could only go with the Highwind or Gold Chocobo.
Time will tell, gonna buy the Trilogy then when all of it is available !

There's still a lot of locations missing in Rebirth, so they have potential to increase the world size. Including:
Spoiler:
Junon, Rocket Town, Mideel, Bone Village, underwater part of Junon, smaller/individual houses like Zangan, etc.

I wasnt against them adding/changing the story but well this is a trainwreck.
It feels like they wanted to cater to everyone. Oldschool fans who didnt want the original story to change and the rest who was open for new/different story additions.
The game would have been much better if the had cut out the open world filler.
Pro
*Beautiful graphics and character models
*Soundtrack
Cons
*Story
*Cloud
*Combat is boring/Bullet(HP) sponge enemies(Dont want to fight the turks for the 32423th anymore thank you)
*Open World parts of the game. (Boring/repetetive -> Sorry I dont want Assasin's creed (2007) mechanices in my jrpg)
*Skill leveling (totally useless)
*Summons are kinda useless
7/10 at most. I doubt they can recover from this in the 3rd itteration.
P.s.: Kinda weird that this sold prolly twice as much as remake so basically some ppl are playing this without ever having touched REmake. (Yeah I know there are double dippers etc)

should've just been a normal remake.
The multiple timeline stuff is so overdone with square enix in their different games too.
It's nonsense and just serves to reduce the impact power of THE IMPORTANT MOMENTS

I completely agree.
I later got some yt recoomended lets plays of FF7 Rebirth where i just took a quick gander where several players said they were confused about the aertih scene and didnt know how to feel. I remember how i felt in the og game when that scene happened.

People are rightly confused as this scene wasn't clear at all. They can got whenever they like with it:
Spoiler:
From most obvious, she is dead and Cloud just went mad, to she is partially dead or even that she is alive, albeit in a different timeline?. Or any other Deus Ex machina thingy that would fit the narrative. This is what I dislike the most with such plot, if there is multiple (infinite?) timelines, there are no stakes to loose, as your favorite characters can always live in a different one.
They've introduced so much mess with those different timelines concept. Part of mee have hopes they will tie it up nicely. But I've watched to many anime and Japanese TV shows and movies overall to know they like to be as obscure and symbolic as they can. I'm already preparing myself to some philosophical nonsense at the end, that will leave more questions than provide answers.
so with the sour aftertaste of ffxvi still present i probably shouldn't even bother with this one i suppose..
Depends. At least in FF7Rebirth, the actual gameplay and such is good (if you like RPGs, that is). Just don't get caught up in the open world stuff you can do, that drains you out.

No it's not. Ubislop recipe with towers shitty checklist stuff on the map. Ohh, and no day and night cycle in a open world game. Imagine that in 2024/25. Remake was a fluid and fucking amazing ride, outside the bullcrap ending.
The thing is, you can (and should, I didn't) ignore most of the open-world stuff in this game. There is no issue just following the MSQ and having a great time.
