that 5080 is barely 5070 in reality, makes you wonder... 11% increase over 4080S Laughing seeing prices here like 1600 EUR... Laughing I would rather check used 4080 in warranty period than buy anything from 50 series...

5080 seems to overclock very good, nice performance boost like 10-15%. Anyway never seen this shit release on new cards, so underwhelming.

Cheapest 5080 here is ~1200€... dunno if it's high or low when compared to the 4080 whatever. I'm waiting for the 5070ti or AMDerp equivalent, if they make that one interesting/competitive enough.

4080 was 1400€ MSRP at launch. 4080S was 1109€ MSRP with a 2-3% boost in performance Laughing

5080 at 1200€ isn't "that bad" (yet, should have been around 800€) if you come from 2 or more gen cards.

It would be very nice if AMD comes back in competition NOW ! To make these price not so great again.

5080 seems a very good overclocker, why didn't they put 24GB of VRAM on it and kept the same
ML cooling than the 5090 with higher clock, to be closer to an 4090 and call it 5080ti ???
Everyone would have been happy even at 1200€.
This 5080 should really have been in the 800-900€ price range, indeed.

And I am not even talking about the 5090 price here, and there are still people proud and happy with this.

PS: personnaly I feel ashamed to have bought a 4080 back then, and not quite happy with this 5080 "upgrade" but I am an HW junky as well Sad

Either because of upselling -> get the 5090 instead
or because you'll run out of VRAM earlier and will buy the next gen with more VRAM
or because it should really just be a 5070 and cost 700€ max.

Chose one.

Or save that slot for possible RTX 5080 Ti which is basic 5080 overclocked to the maximum with 24GB of VRAM and a $1499 price tag.

Time will tell.

This almost works as intended, the app download and store all different DLSS, DLSSG, DLSRR versions in "C:\ProgramData\NVIDIA\NGX\models\dlss\versions"

Still have to use the new NVinspector to select the proper DLSS preset (E, J, K, ...) though.
NVIDIA app only show "app setting" or "latest" for MSFS 2024 at least, for now.

A step in the right direction, and if one day it is fully working we won't need to mess with DLL files anymore. Smile

I only had time to do some 3DMark benchies and some quick flight in MSFS 2024, so far so good.
FG x4 looks quite ... interesting, 220+ fps in the C172 over New York discovery flight : Laughing
I yet have these nasty stutter every 5 or 10 seconds again, might be shader cache related, I still need to investigate this.

PS : Look at this performance increase ! :

Ok the nb2 was my first 3DMark test back in 2013, but hey Smile

The more I read about the 5080, the more I believe it's almost fraud by Nvidia. It's not worth the high price. It should've been labelled 5070, not 5080. I wonder how the 5070 will perform since it will obviously be slower than the 5080. The pricing will make or break that.

Nvidia kind of messed up this generation. The 5090 can only shine with frame generation meaning that native rendering isn't impressive, esp. not for the price. It's basically worth it for people who'll use it for AI and other tasks that are using the RT and Tensor cores.

IMHO!

ps.
The 5080 in Norway is 1600 € and 1700 € in Sweden.
The 5090 in Norway and Sweden is 3000 €.

Ridiculous prices. I'm so flabbergasted that those prices have become "normalized" in the minds of consumers. In 2010 the price for enthusiast/high performance cards went for ~300 €. In 15 years the prices have increased almost 1000%.

The reason Nvidia can keep doing this is because they can. Consumers are so dumb that they don't care, they just want the latest and greatest. 4K gaming monitor? Why!? A 1440p monitor is perfect with great image quality and refresh speed. It doesn't require anything like a 4090/5090. Oh well...

Yea, I don't get the 4k thing either. Maybe its my old eyes, But my ultrawide 3440x1440 and a 4k I cannot tell a difference in even side by side in the store.
It's practically double the pixels of mine, but I can't see it. Only way I could tell was on stark edged objects if I got really close to the screen and tried to see it. And I don't use my monitor 6" from my face Razz

removed the "almost" for ya. It is what it is. deliberately launching with no stock creates the illusion of scarcity, which makes people fight even harder to get their product.
Better wait for the AI bubble to burst or some mid range competition, other than that you can still game on much older hardware and AAA games are mostly a disaster anyway.

So long as there are techbros that run bulk buy bots at any price to run local AI models or scalp and enough rich whale gamers that are happy to upgrade every year either due to the deliberately cucked VRAM or locked software updates, High end PC gaming will be a thing for the 0.000000000000000001%.
