Like 100% predicted, it seems like it suffers from the same shit as Veilguard: absolutely HORRIBLE characters (how they look, how they behave), and boring / super safe writing but sometimes with sexual undertones (because wow, we are so progressive, look at us!)

On the one hand, Matty plays says it's a good game but with issues, on the other over on eurosocjus the same soycuck that rated failguard 5/5 "only" gives this 4/5 so...

Obsidian are SUPER overrated, always has been.
Mort would probably give it a 10/10 if he had more money and the game had more trans non binary characters!
Combat feels realy good, especially for a first person RPG.
Game performance is awesome. Sure, it's doesn't have all then fancy graphical stuff but who cares.
Not everthing is groundbreaking, but that's not a big deal. The core gameplay works, that's what matters.

The first person combat and exploration is scratching a Skyrim itch for me.

Second combat arena and the enemies didn't spawn. I was running around in circles for a few minutes thinking it had to be a secret way or something. This bodes well indeed
I enjoyed the first 20 minutes of it until my game crashed when I had to shoot down that ball thing to burn the bush's lol I will wait for more patches.
It does give me a Skyrim itch but its a lot more colourful
You know what? I gave it a go just cause whatever ... I only played a few hours and yeah, the writing is bad and the choices are fallout choices so far (I mean modern fallout, and not in the way they're chosen, cause you see what you say, but the way they are writen), so that's fucked. But to be fair, the combat is competent and feels good, which is fucking insane coming from obsidian and it runs alright for me, not only FPS wise, but it feels fluid.
The game also looks nice, fidelity-wise I mean. Some of the colors are jarring to me, but maybe that was the point. I find the interface just fucked cause it just feels like a bethesda game, and it has the same issue that a lot of other obsidian games do, at least from what I see with weapons where they try to balance the fun out of it, as all the weapons seem to do the same damage if you consider attack speed and all that, it's fine I guess, I just don't like it.
But yeah, I don't know... If you like shit like skyrim this has better combat, and I mean ... the writing in skyrim isn't good either, so yeah... Seems to have decent exploration so far, I mean.. it feels like the world is open and you can get to some unexpected places. You sometimes fall through them, but hey... I guess even with most of the original Obsidian gone, their spirit is still there.
Outside of being able to chose they at the start, I haven't really noticed any overt woke shit, but I haven't been looking either, and I've fast forwarded through dialogue cause it is shit.
Ugly graphics/ color palette, static and dead open world (no NPC reactivity or meaningful dialogue choices), all tied together with a boring combat system.
A far cry from the Obsidian of old.
