Still not played it and won't play it until I upgrade from 3080 to 5090.
No point in giving it a go unless you do it properly and I suspect this may have hurt sales

alan wake 2 has regional pricing so 1.8 million is boosted through that.
Maybe they shouldconsider releasing on steam...

The results aren't surprising in my opinion since we're talking about the Sweeney-only direct sequel of a game released in 2010/2012 that wasn't even a big hit to begin with. I reckon people weren't fully convinced by the approach either, more artsy-fartsy and redundant than necessary (a double-edged sword)

It is up to Epic to decide. Remedy has zero reasons not to release it on every competetive platform.

Did it make the money back, though? At least for it to still not be released on steam I'll give them the benefit of doubt that the money bag they got from timmay was yuge

epic is the publisher, only epic decides if they would release on other platform but def epic dosent care about steam sales, so this is not just an epic launcher exclusive title like other games in the past, they funded the whole game. they just now released a physical version, all they care is to get new people to epic launcher

Sooo finaly managed to finish it. If it was not for my new gpu to see all the eyecandy I probably wouldn't reach the end as the 2nd half of the game dragged on too much. The writing got really old really fast with repeating the same things over and over. Even the poem minipuzzle rewards were lazy AF, I got 10 (sic!) same fucking useless charms that save you from death.
I'd give it 3 Ahma beers out of 5 thanks to the presentation as graphics, sound and music was nice most of the time, everything else was just mediocre.

i am absolutely with you on this one.

finished this the other day as well, and tbh i don't understand the hype. this game thinks it is way more special than it actually is.

sure the crazy musical scenes are kind of cool but the game itself...? MEHHH....
and even the acting felt kind of trashy for the most part.

also who the fuck thought it was a good idea to have all these jumpscare scenes with the flashing images.. (and yes, i turned them to a minimum via options)

I finished the game recently, about a week or so ago. I thought it was ok. Probably a 6/10 for me, I certainly wouldn't play it again.

It was pretty though. Most of the time. The rest of it though? Cheesy piss poor dialogue, bad voice acting and utterly nonsensical story. It's meh.

I think the biggest mistake ever was having Saga be the protagonist over Alan whom we all know from the first game, and the title. Just made it very uninteresting.

I completetly forgot about the annoying jumpscares, there were so many of them it became infuriating after a while. Didn't know there's an option to tone them down....

https://www.alanwake.com/story/alan-wake-2-update-notes/

These are the latest update notes for Alan Wake 2

30th January 2025

PC (1.2.8 )

In this rather large 1.2.8 update for pc, there are a lot of new additions and improvements for NVIDIA GeForce RTX series by using DLSS 4.

For more details on what all the improvements are, we recommend reading this blog post from NVIDIA.

Improvements and additions

Added support for DLSS 4

New Transformer AI models for DLSS Super Resolution and DLSS Ray Reconstruction. This is supported on all RTXs GPUs.
New AI model for DLSS Frame Generation. This is supported on RTX 4000 and RTX 5000 series GPUs.
Adds DLSS Multi Frame Generation. This is available on RTX 5000 series GPUs.

Added options for DLSS Frame Generation

2X available on GeForce RTX 4000 and RTX 5000 series GPUs
Multi Frame Generation (3X and 4X) available on RTX 5000 series GPUs
Improved Ray Tracing CPU and GPU load, VRAM usage and image quality thanks to RTX Mega Geometry. This is supported and automatically enabled on all RTXs GPUs when using the latest drivers.

Added the new Ray Tracing quality level setting, Ultra, which is available in the Options.

Adds fully ray traced refractions and transparent reflections.
Improves the quality of fully ray traced indirect lighting.
Supported on all RTX GPUs while DLSS Ray Reconstruction is enabled.

Note: Ultra ray tracing currently critically relies on DLSS Ray Reconstruction for denoising, so Ultra ray tracing setting is not available when DLSS Ray Reconstruction is not supported or is disabled.

Added V-sync option for full and half-refresh rate.

What a fantastic game. Just finished it and it was honestly one of the greatest games I have played. I totally don't understand the hate against this game at atll.

It is simply a great experience and horror story. I didn't mind Saga at all, not as a second protagonist and she wasn't just a stereotypical black woman either.

The athmosphere is simply fantastic and I got hooked through to the end. While Alan's sections were a bit tedious, I still liked them. And it was basically a preview for the Max Payne remakes, which I am now hyped for more then ever.

I truly regret having pirated this game, it would definitely have been worth a purchase. Quantum Break definitely burned me on Remedy games, but Control was fun and this one here as well. Looking forward to their next releases.
