I believe they also cannot ship reliability updates to their power unit at the moment even if they wanted to (not sure if it has to do with the budget cap or not any more).. weeee !

Yeah, there's the consolation of Saturdays, but it makes the Sundays an even thougher pill to swallow - Monaco followed by this was.. painful Laughing

Totally agree with you Grale - just that I'm starting to warm up to Max, he seems like he's matured a whole lot these last few months and now that Lewis is out of the picture, he's not going for the troll behaviour Horner and Marko love (it's their job, but I don't like drivers doing it much either) Razz
Driving these cars in harsh conditions was already a nightmare, the porpoising must make it tenfold worse.

Spotted at a flea market near Amsterdam:

1st pit stop Checo and also Sainz, Checo drives over an airgun from Ferrari.
The Ferrari crew that has to swap Sainz' tires, are missing a new tire for the rear left:

Max and RB have been stellar this season, hats off to them. Impeccable driving, clear and timely strategic decisions with little drama, ongoing developments that have improved the few areas that needed a boost - the whole package really. Mercedes have worked very well too considering that terrible start. Basically, the complete opposite of Ferrari Razz Crying or Very sad

And to think that for a month or two there was even the hope that the memes could be over...little did we know that we were about to witness the ultimate grand clown fiesta era.

Next year is going to be the one ! Very Happy (Laughing)

Sainz's race management was a goddamn clownfest all over, I hope they've got REALLY good mental coaches over at Manrarello Laughing

Quote:
Max Verstappen says some of the reaction to his role in the Red Bull team orders controversy in Brazil has been "unacceptable" and "disgusting".

The world champion refused Red Bull's order to let his team-mate Sergio Perez through on the final lap of last weekend's Sao Paulo Grand Prix to gain points in his fight for second in the championship.

Verstappen said: "After the race, I looked very bad in the media. But they didn't have the clear picture.

"To immediately put me down like that is pretty ridiculous. All the things I have read are pretty disgusting.

"They started attacking my family, they were threatening my sister, my mum, my girlfriend, my dad. And for me that goes way too far when you don't even have the facts of what is going on. And that definitely has to stop.

"If you have a problem with me, that's fine, but don't go after my family because that is unacceptable."

Verstappen initially appeared to be referring to responses to the incident on social media but he then also said he had a problem with some of the media reports after the race.

"A lot of people what they have been writing about me is ridiculous," he said.

"At the end of the day you contribute to all the problems social media has by writing these kinds of things.

"It is just incredibly disappointing to read these kind of things. I know how I am and the team knows how I work and I have always been good to the team."

He added: "As soon as there is something negative it needs to be highlighted, it is pretty sickening being part of that. While at the end of the day I haven't done anything wrong; it's just people misunderstood what has been going on."

Verstappen said after the race in Brazil that he had "reasons" for refusing to let Perez back ahead and that he was reacting to "something that happened in the past".

We're not even two GPs in and the season is already over Okay

Then again, Ferrari's engineers are traditionally blessed by the reverse Midas touch and the more they modify the car, the worse it gets.

GP Imola (Italy): Order has been restored. I really hope RB will sign Sainz.

Edit: McLaren is getting close though.

GP Monaco: Was to be expted that the start of the F1 GP of Monaco would be master disaster.
And of course Perez, zero points.

Edit: Gratz to Leclerc and Ferrari.
But I don't like the GP of Monaco, no need for good pitstop strategies, no significant overtakes.
In fact some racers were deliberately slowing down to help their teammates.
This street circuit isn't suitable for F1 racing, IMO. Shit race.

In the meanwhile: Perez has signed a new contract with RB for two more years.
 Spoiler:

GP Canada: Only 5 DNFs and order has been restored again. PĂ©rez You Suspicious Be
https://www.formula1.com/en/results.html/2024/races/1237/canada/race-result.html

I guess the Ferrari drivers abused their engines too much in Monaco.

Why the F1 2024 season may not be over

During the season F1 teams are allowed to bring upgrades. These upgrades are budget limited. If you have seen the last couple of races, both Ferrari and McLaren are bridging the gap to RB. The RB team that lately strangely has been plagued with the inability to fine tune the cars for the specific circuits. About Mercedes: Godspeed with the upgrades!

Yesterday the news hit that Verstappen is switching to the 4th engine already. He is the 1st one to do so. The 3 older engines will stay availably. Needing more engines will result in grid penalties.

Meanwhile Sergio PĂ©rez is transforming into the grandmaster crash dummie. The crash at the Monaco GP may have costed RB between 2 to 3 million euros. The total costs of damages of al the teams are not really clear right now, but this will hurt RB. It means less upgrades for the team.

Staying with PĂ©rez, and his poor performances lately, if he continues like this, RB may lose the top spot in the constructors standings soon.

Lastly, the RB20 and its sturdy suspension makes it perform badly on bumpy race circuits, that's mostly street circuits. The street circuits yet to come: Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan, Singapore and Las Vegas

Anyway have fun watching the qualification of the Spanish GP in a few.

—

GP Barcelona (Spain): This race 2 things became clear:
Landon Norwich is one of the best racers of the bunch, and the McLaren car may already be better then the RB20.
Max Verstappen 1 - Sergio PĂ©rez 8, Lando Norris 2 - Oscar Piastri 7
https://www.formula1.com/en/results.html/2024/races/1238/spain/race-result.html

I wrote some stuff down during the race:
Ferrari as usual has bad pit stops strategies. On race radio:
Leclerq: "Why are we on Plan A?"
Ferrari engineer: "We are in line with everyone else. That was the choice."
Ferrari often has a Plan A, a Plan B and sometimes even a Plan C, it never works though. Laughing

I saw again that on the race track Hamilton is a real bully, not a fair racer.
In "The Green Room" he was the latest to join. Max and Landon ignored him.
Then he started to deliberately toss things on the ground from a table to get some attention from them. This is the man with the "God is love" tattoo in his neck.
Edit: It's called Cooldown room, my bad. I found vid:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?T=0s&v=5bazHYgLOto

Lawrence Stroll (Lance's billionaire papa) may need to invest many more millions in the Aston Martin machines. This team was nowhere to be seen.

Lawrence Stroll

The GP of Barcelona will move to Madrid in 2026, and it will become a street circuit.

GP Austria (Red Bull ring), Sprint Race: The track is nearly 700 m above sea level. RB has an advantage here. Many fast curves and RB has a very good engine cooling system (thinner air). Edit: Dunno if that still is an issue with the cars. Mercedes in the past most certainly had overheating troubles with the engines. Especially during the GP of Mexico (AutĂłdromo Hermanos RodrĂguez), 2,238 km above sea level.

Well Verstappen started from poll position. The battle between him, Norris and Piastri was exiting/interesting for a couple of laps, and then Max won. lol
Btw, this relatively short circuit of 4,318 km has 3 DRS zones, and DRS was enabled during the 2nd lap already.

I think the McLaren car is faster now, but it takes more to beat the World Champion. There are rumours that RB will bring a big upgrade package to Silverstone next week. Things could become uninteresting again, unless the big upgrade package works the same as Aston Martin upgrades.

Some Tech Talk by f1.tv, How Are Red Bull Staying Ahead?
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Nm1yA6sdq2w

The race: Everything started normal, Verstappen in the lead, Peréz disappointing. 2nd pitstop Verstappen (bad one he lost 4s), he swaps to an used yellow set. Norris closely behind swaps to an unused yellow set. And guess what, lap 54 a race starts. You know the expression, if two dogs fight for a bone?

I am afraid Max defended too aggressively towards Norris. After a collision Norris out, Max got a punctured tyre, and ended 5th. He got away with a 10 seconds penalty for causing a collision. It was almost like the old aggressive battles between Hamilton and Verstappen.

I'm Gonna join my two latest post again and repost it. And then there will be some radio silence.

Only chaos and acts of complete recklessness can bring genuine entertainment to this season, and the Ring indeed delivered. The big question however is, will Max and Lando still be close friends after today? grinhurt

That is 12 x € 11.90 = € 142.80 meh

Viaplay is even worse.

And I am very afraid RB is going to suck this year.

One grand prix into the season and Hamilton has already been blessed by the full Ferra®i experience: 4D chess tactics, extra-wonky car and some remarkably inept engineers to top it off. It's a matter of time before the inevitable "we'll bring some nice de(rp)velopements, however, our focus is on the 2026 car right now" Laughing

At least Kimi 2.0 looks quite promising, *it's something*
