I disable it on every flagship title that tries to market it. It doesn't add enough to warrant the -60 FPS it cost.
This is also a full blown remaster and looks great, The things showcased that look good are predominantly the replacement models and textures.. plus it has RTX lighting, no doubt this time around disabling or using minimal RTX for the huge FPS gains will be the correct decision.
the rtx version is more like a visual remake since it touches and changes many things, where the updated version just improves whats already there, you know, like the meaning of the word...
The original hl and hl2 has been "remastered" the hell and back by fan modders and developers, hl2 rtx seems to be basically an advanced and modern technology version of the HDR since the famous lost coast chapter implanted in HL2.
Speaking of which, I am pretty sure the term "remastered" is quite new..
Updates and expansions(even "side" expansions) that improve the game graphics ain't new at all, even remakes been done before(though not at the rate which happening today which every company and their grandmothers doing remakes for classic titles).
I am pretty sure the "term" been popularized since the famous FFX Remaster, but this may be my memories betrays me.

I mean they played Cyberpunk fully path traced on a RTX 2060, sure, with options and resolution befitting of a 1080p card from 2019, but when you don't automatically put every setting to max, you'll usually find a way to play any game at a decent FPS
unless it is truly shit optimized
mind you though Half-Life 2 RTX is made by modders who went and made a "game company" akin. tho the guys who made Black Mesa
this won't be a direct Nvidia product, even if Nvidia will help them anywhere they can
Though the heavy lifting will be done through RTX Remix, and yea we've seen how well Portal 2 RTX runs on AMD
that dude does not hold back but he's not wrong. inefficiency by design has been plaguing games for many years now.
But it is only a reflection of the system we live in, short term profit over pride in one's field and delivering the best one can.
Not to mention all the shady deals with ngreedia n shit.
