The old version looked terrible but at least ,as far as I remember, it followed the story chronologically without constantly jumping all over the place.
I didn't think the old version looked terrible but then I watched it in the 90'ies when it was made so my perception was from a 90'ies perspective and I that has stuck with me. Sure, I can see that it's dated but I don't mind for said reasons. Besides, it was much closer to the original material and again, the whole intro scene with Blue Öyster Cult's "Don't Fear the Reaper" playing while that crow sits on the fence was iconic.
This new version is chopped up so badly, jumping back and forth in time and story. Also, the characters have no depth whatsoever, no buildup or focus. They're just 2-dimensional puppets. In the old mini-series the warm friendships between the main characters as well as the "evil" side of Flaggs with trashcan man etc. were well defined.
Well the first three episodes are mostly character introduction so far. But I have to agree the time jumping is so bad. What is it - Westworld? It's so confusing and badly done.

Yeah, same. I thought I missed an episode as evryone is already in the town at the start of episode 2. Chronological timeline would have been a lot better.
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.
And as I've written before, I don't like what they did... it's so disjointed with a strong lack of character development. It seems Harold Lauder is the focus of this show while the mini-series managed to put the focus on all the main characters which were well fleshed out as well.
So watching episode 6. It's fucking trash. At third I had some hope but the pacing, the lack of character development being the effect of years of rewriting the script, makes it all garbage.
I haven't watched episode 5 or 6 yet and I doubt I'll bother with this show. It's utter crap. And yes, the total lack of character development (making them 2D wooden set pieces), the "subversive" timeline, ignoring the awesome opening scene from the first miniseries etc...
Nah, this show gets a 4/10 from me, ie. not worth wasting time on. The first 30 minutes of the first episode of The Stand 1994 had more depth, character development, better pacing, an actual atmosphere, better actors etc. than this show had in the first 4 episodes (and if they continue in the same style it had more of the above than this whole series).
The only actor that is doing remotely well with the poor script is Alexander Skarsgård but that's not going to save an entire show.

Oh shit that ending. They said they will write it better than King

I stopped watching this DURING episode 4. Just pointless and boring. I'll go back and watch the new remaster of the 1994 miniseries instead to get rid of the the bad aftertaste of this failure.
