Ok, so I hope this is not a stupid request. But does anybody have an intro into Minecraft for me?
I want to start playing this with my 6yo. I know a lot of games and obviously what Minecraft is, but have never played it myself. My kid has played some tablet games and Switch occasionally, but not much.
I am happy to figure out some stuff, but I was surprised by the lack of tutorials (apart from some stupidly slow popups) or introduction into the game. I know that figuring out stuff by yourself is part of the game, but I don't get the initial premise.
Like, I understand that I would want to make a world in create mode intitially, so my kid can play in peace. But what then? I don't even know how to build stuff. I started digging and suddenly fell below the map. Is that intentional? Same as being able to fly all the time?
Where do I start to understand this game together with my kid?

@bringiton Everything on Youtube basically, there's actually tons of beginner friendly build videos where you can start off, even some basic stuff, whether it's medieval or modern.
As with most building it's best to start with references and try to rebuild something you both know or like, or maybe something funny.
There's also plenty of videos for the game's basics so I would probably look at that to understand some of the stuff.

Yeah, I think that's mostly it. The games was added to and added to and added to over the years, but the startup phase was never really adapted it seems.

You should never fall out of the map, bedrock stops that. Not sure how that happened unless your in creative and have fly/nonclip on (or toggled it while in creative).
For flying around, sounds like you are in creative vs survival. If double tapping space makes you fly, you are not in survival mode you are in creative (god mode).
For a quick first day or two tutorial: Spawn in, run around punching things: Dirt, trees, grass (might as well), and so on. Trees is most important. you make your first tools of wood.
Get a lot of wood, put it in your crafting 2x2 window, make planks. Incase you don't want spoilers for recipes, throw planks in your 2x2 in different patterns (one on top of the other, 2x1 wide, all 4 filled whatever) and see what that makes or gives you.
Build a crafting bench, (you will figure this out throwing planks into your 2x2 window) its same as your 2x2 but 3x3 to use, so more combos of items to make things you cannot in your inventory.
Build a chest, a few of them. Store all your gotten items.

Look it up if you wish, or can't figure it out..its same as making a tool: 'draw' what you want in the box. If you wanted a box made with wooden planks on all sides, that held stuff inside it's empty space, what shape on a 3x3 crafting box would you draw?.
To make tools, take the sticks and things you figured out how to make from above from the planks. and 'draw' the shape of what you want to make in the crafting bench window. This one is hard to explain but easy to grasp 'how' to do, just what to do is the tricky part..so will give one example to make your first pickaxe, two stick and 3 planks:

THEN you can mine stone and coal, and whatever else is not jsut dirt and trees. Try to find coal and iron to mine its usually pretty close to the surface dirt in the stone.
Make a furnace in crafting bench, (Wood catches on fire. So what material are bricks/stone blocks made of you have?) smelt iron, using coal for fuel. Make tools not made of shitty wood.
Make torches..night will come (Easy to do: what is a torch?: a torch is a wooden stick and 'something' that burns on the end)
GO out and mine,collect anything collectable. Store it, try things in crafting bench, build a shelter before dark. hide in your shameful dirt house the first night.
Repeat until you got something other than a dirt hole to hide in with only wooden tools and weapons
