The movie starts off promising with its intrigue and tense dialogues delivered by good ol' Hugh Grant and the two cute gals, but it rapidly descends into silly tripe following resolutions coming straight from the hurrur playbook for dummies. Heresy!
The Brutalist - 6,5/10
A strange beast to analyze, providing some quality visuals, competent acting (with Brody being a perfect fit for the role again) and a potentially interesting story that, however, doesn't quite have the chops to become as grandiose as it wants to be. There is character development until there isn't, and the many ideas feel randomly crammed into a central plot that doesn't really lead anywhere in the second half, leaving that work-in-progress emptiness afterwards. But perhaps that was the whole point.
Had to go see it because my son wanted to see it. I mean it's nothing but reference after reference without proper context, but then again I was expecting nothing less. My son loved it though.
Mickey 17 (2025) 6/10
Interesting premise and had some fun bits, but felt lacking in some way. Also was more goofier than I thought it would be.
I watched a movie last night with my daughter called My Dead Friend Zoe.
I wanted to watch a horror movie but she rarely agrees to it.
It was kind of a black comedy/drama but entertaining despite it being a bit of a slow burn.
Ed Harris was good in it but since it’s ages since I’ve seen him anything, unsurprisingly he’s looking old now lol.
The movie its also based on a true story apparently.
I’d rate it 6/10 I think.
Sean Penn, Ed Harris, Gary Oldman, Robin Wright, John C. Reilly, Joe Viterelli, what a cast love it, especially mr Oldman.
Just watched this, 10/10 is too much I think:
State of Grace: 8/10. The gf bit could've been cut out as it didn't do anything really but take out the pacing. Not totally convinced on Frankies portrayal. Other than that, nice movie. 4K please?
TRON: 6/10. Title has actually very little to do with the movie other than looking good, but the movie holds up pretty well considering its age.
TRON: Legacy: 7/10. Largely the same movie as the first, but with a great OST and a slightly better story

It had a great premise that could have accomplished so much more, then like you said, the steady descent into not schlock but tripe.
If you're intrigued by the synopsys and Hugh Grant, don't be. He's doing his job but as always, a good actor can't save a doomed script.
It's honestly a waste of time.
It will leave you with the notion that you'd rather had watched something else.
