What the fuck is wrong with some recent HDR releases?
Mickey.17.2025.2160p.MA.WEB-DL.DDP5.1.Atmos.DV.HDR.SDR.H.265-HONE
Maximum Content Light Level: 258 cd/m2
Maximum Frame-Average Light Level: 68 cd/m2
Novocaine.2025.DL.HDR.2160p.WEB.h265-W4K
Maximum Content Light Level: 300 cd/m2
Maximum Frame-Average Light Level: 142 cd/m2
These are just worst examples, there are releases by other groups with higher peak brightness (500-700 nits), which is still not very high. Releases are supposed to be mastered to 1000-4000 nits. So the WEB-DL sources have too low of a peak brightness and also some groups apparently fuck up HDR releases. I have to check mediainfo on every damn release nowadays.

Remux or a bust.
But probably always good idea to wait for Blu-ray to be out and grabbing proper release. |
