I don't think anyone is exactly crying, but many people were very disappointed for sure, which is proven by the sales, this game could easily have become a classic, but the adventure of Ellie and Ellie just wasn't fun or as interesting as the first.
First game put you in the role of a white male (Joel). It was badass, he was gruff and quite cool. Killed bad guys, sneaked around plant zombies and that crazy cure thing towards the end. It was something else. Then came the second game and during the development time Cuckman has gotten the taste for cock cheese and leftist politics, that is fairly obvious. White man had to be gone. That was #1 priority as his existence is both racist and misogynistic, and very toxic. He had to craft a story around making that happen. While he can't erase his own existence, he can do the planet a solid and exterminate the white males in fiction instead!

just finished this, I have a feeling half of it was cutscenes and walking while talking. The story... I have no problem with lgbtidkfa++ agenda, but the story itself could be executed better... especially the dead of that character could be mid game instead of in intro... and overall pacing could be better but whatever. Maybe they should save Abby's side for story DLC (something like GTA IV with 2 expansions)
Other than that it was great game, with excellent graphics and attention to detail, nice immersion and amazing gameplay (when you are actually playing).
Before that I played finally GoW 2018 and that one was even worse: 5 min walk talk, 5 min fight, 10 mins cutscene and rinse and repeat... (how this one could win over RDR2 GoTY???)... it had fucking cutscenes even during boss fights...

You love Ellie.
I actually don't mind 1 Ellie, 2 of them was just boring.
Overall i don't think two lovers makes great protagonists in games, for porn maybe, but if you remove it (any intimacy) and they're just acting as friends it also comes off as a bit weird or like they're faking being lesbians these are two very young people too = horny etc.. nah, you need to sell me something else with these two.
For visuals and animations, definitely. For writing? It's fucking amateur hour with that horseshit. Seems like whoever kept the writers "grounded" left well before this came into fruition.
Proof is they've already doing what they can to fix a lot of the pacing and continuity mess in season 2 of the tv show
thats why it felt so boring in the first ep of the show story is good the way it is, pacing with gameplay sure. the show at least in ep 1 made it a linear story which resulted in a boring ep. the more meaningful scenes in the game are made bland in the show. imagine making lost linear
the lead man on this was neil, nobody left it was the game he always wanted to make and everyone was on board, go watch grounded making of part 2. its always been a major death in the beginning and going for revenge then play as the killer. for some it worked for some didnt, u cant please all unless do something completely different which he didnt want
seen some retarded arguments like "abby should have been dlc" u cant even argue with that shit
I don't believe it but... I agree for once with this man ^ here when it comes to the game.
It's just... unexpected.
The little details: the A-HA moment, the random kind advice given by Dina to Ellie when lifting heavy shit...
Wokeness (that's REAL, yeah...) aside, let's just say that if you've been through some tough shit in life, you would probably understand differently this game.

Thanks for explaining why the writing is shit
No one was left to tard wrangle the tard, hence the "great" results and reception when compared to the first game.

People aren't criticising the themes but the execution.
Execution was simply very amateurish and it's clear whoever's in charge got rid of anyone that's not a yesman. Resulting in a very divisive story and an incoherent mess imo.
It's a good game once it's a game in the few enemy encounters you get, but endless flashbacks, a timeline that's all over the place and basic bitch manipulative tactics to make you like very unlikeable characters is just babby's first writing project. This could have been executed much better if it wasn't one nepobaby's egotrip project.
I truly couldn't give less of a fuck about the second half of the game as abby and her friends or any of the new characters introduced on ellie's side. Cardboard thin plot devices the lot of them and would have been fine if the game didn't take itself so damn seriously and took pleasure in destroying everything people liked about the first game.

yeah writing is so shit thats why it won so many awards then do a hbo show thx for explaining how things work
we've yet to see how they handle part 2 in the show and the audience's reaction to it. They're keeping joel for the entire season I heard btw I WONDER WHY
killing joel as fast as possible set the tone for the rest of the game and put things in motion, it didnt make any sense for him to die mid game or something.
obviously they cant do this with the show else u will have bella hunting people the whole season. and pedro pascal is a big name for the show and without him u dont have any big leads, bella cant carry the show unlike the game, from ep 1 u already figured out they rearenged some scenes and did them in chronological order so he has much screen time
too soon to tell but by the looks of ep 1 the game told the best version of that story
