It's rather irrelevant considering there are multiple factors to player retention in singleplayer games from state of the game, to sales, to circumstances (like updates or sequels), to the most prominent being mods.
This game doesn't have a strong modding scene nor it's in a good state. It's only normal that the playerbase will slowly die out. Mentioning it every 3 posts seems odd to say the least.
First Berserker of Khazan has only 6k players online now and it was released a few weeks ago to positive reception. So what?!
How is player count in any way irrelevant? it's not.
Yes, there are many factors that plays in if a game is popular or not, so? This makes these stats very interesting and very relevant since we can follow it, if e.g mods would make it more popular, or if a newly released patch is upping the player count, etc etc etc.
First Berserker of Khazan, does it have a strong modding community, has there been a recent patch? how much did it sell on PC/steam? what's the peak count? without this it's not too interesting to see the stats, it does require you to have a little insight, but if you have that, its absolutely not irrelevant how the current player count looks.
6K doesn't seem to bad imo. but i also don't know if it sold well. positive reception is one thing, sales another thing.
