What a complete nothing of a video. 10 seconds of pre-pre-pre Alpha footage showcasing the same level of destruction the old titles had (think Bad Company 2 years (decades?) ago), followed by 8 minutes of fellating DICE dicks shouting how amazing it's going to be, how none of us should be surprised about it having a season pass and cosmetic transactions, and about how having an actual server browser would make "no sense" now'a'days and we shouldn't want it.

Basically, this entire video was made so when the ACTUAL marketing gets underway, they cut him a bigger check. Laughing

In my defense, it was like 2AM. That, and I usually don't click his shit (have my YT set to not show stuff from his channel anymore), but I figured if I was going to write a scathing critique, maybe I should watch it to see if he's mended his ways since. Nope. Laughing

If it's any consolation, I use an adblocker, though I don't think YT is able to tell and pays out the creator anyway?

^ Too late, man!

Your click made him incomprehensible rich and gave him power beyond all reason.

Cool Face

But yeah, him and the other one - which I will NOT speak here - have slowly become some of the most disgusting / fake / cringe tubers that once I used to watch.

As a BF veteran (1942 / BC2 / BF3 / BF 4 +) I could see how they always avoided to seriously discuss blatant, game-breaking issues and always enveloped their content and conclusions into a fucking - I don't want to anger my EA sponsor - positive note.

Well, FUCK THEIR POSITIVITY IN THE ASS!!1

Their voices could have mattered if they had the balls to speak things right. WELL LOOK AT WHAT SHIT such "POSITIVITY" brought us today: BF5, BF2042... and I am 99% sure the next BF will be the same soulless shite EA created in the past years...

Used to watch Battle(non)sense.

That guy did some excellent analysis on the BF games; even had a series of recommendations for new game (modes).

But... of course, since he did NOT shill, was not afraid to criticize serious issues, and was grounded in reality, he did not have EA's support and money...

I used to watch him too - he did amazing videos - most very technical. Shame he stopped making content - he would have had a fucking field day with the state 2042 was in. I'm fairly certain EA had to have thrown their lawyers at him at some point as he was making them look (as they are) downright incompetent. Wish he'd come back and rip them a new one.

Edit - He posted this on his Youtube channel two months ago (basically he stopped because his parent(s) got cancer)...

Quote:
I don’t know yet if I will "unpause" my YouTube channel and start to make videos again, but during the past 3 years I did truly miss it. And there have been many topics where I felt that I could have been helpful.

DICE announcing their new CTE 2.0 aka. Battlefield Labs, which this time aims to involve the community during the active development of the next Battlefield game to release a good game, sounds like something that could lead to some videos.

And having Battlefield restart my channel would be fitting, as the trainwreck that was Battlefield 4 is how this channel came to be in the first place.

We will see.

So he may come back, hopefully in time to grill them before they muck it up too badly.

One of the few with eyes open, solid proof and sound arguments.

Man, had some terrible moments with that game, as I gave it chances after chances after chances...

I've maintained this argument for decades, and I will die on this hill - I don't think, at least in the past 5 releases or so, anyone at DICE actually sits down to play their own game.

It's like - they design it, implement it, and then pass it off to a remote QA team in India full of people that are used to reading off scripts at call centers and have never played an FPS game in their lives. They go down the script, do what it says, and check some boxes - but not one of them will actually sit down and PLAY the fucking thing, in an actual match, 32 vs. 32. There's just no way. Even the most inept and clueless players would have noticed the glaring fucking issues with regards to bugs and balancing that plagued the series from 4 onward.

Basically, it all went to shit from 3 onwards, with DICE being absorbed by EA and the left hand no longer knowing (or caring even if it did know), what the right hand is doing.

It saddens me, as I've been with this series since the original Battlefield Vietnam in 2004. (I was poor and couldn't afford 1942, the yarr release was hit and miss on being able to play). So many fond memories, with the pinnacle being the BF 2: Special Forces expansion, only to see it get worse and worse with every release, but with no real alternatives to turn to. I don't know how many hours I've sunk into Battlefield, but probably close to, if not over, 10,000 by now.

Agree. Despite so many players claiming BF4 being THE/A better game than BF3. Which is insane, considering the absolute mess it was at launch and many years after.

For me it was BC2. It was one of my favorite MP experiences ever.

SADLY:

BF5 was a HUGE disappointment and after the open beta(s) I didn't even buy it. That's how broken I saw it was. And BF2042... deserves zero attention at this point.

FORTUNATELY:

BF1 is still around: 12,029 players - 24-hour peak. And it's one of my favorite of all the series.

bf4 is the better game, so wat if it was a mess at launch? they fixed it, dosent even make sense to keep pointing that out, wat ur playing today is not that version. same with bf 2042 and bf5

You talk to the people who actually play Battlefield a lot, most love BF4, well now they do

Same with BF2042

I fondly remember BF2 despite all its limitations (especially thanks to Project Reality which made the vanilla experience more rewarding), Vietnam and 2142 were solid also. Unfortunately, I never played 1942 online since I was still on a lousy 33k modem at the time Razz

BC2 and BF3 were both remarkable experiences as well, each bringing something new/interesting to the table, and massively amplified by the glorious and unforgettable Hump squad <3

BF4 was the last one I genuinely had fun with, though the game was indeed released in a pretty dire state with its wonky scripted le(l)volution, questionable hit detection, surprise lag, balancing issues etc. Most of the quirks got fixed, eventually, in a better late-than-never way.

Alas, while Battlefield 1 had everything on paper to become another solid entry for me (especially in terms of pure atmosphere and visuals/performance), I never really found its gunplay satisfying which is quite the capital sin in a game that revolves around shooting. BF5 was an improvement in that regard, however, it dismissed everything else in a rather goofy manner and as a result, I didn't even bother snagging it for one dollar(tm). Then 2042 came out and it made my already waning interest in online shooters completely disappear. Not sure that will ever come back to be honest, still, going back to the roots and focusing on the strengths of the franchise should be a positive move all things considered.
