I like it, cool premise. Had to lower it to high from ultra to get ~90 FPS with DLSS @ 1440p

4080S / 9800X3D

PC controls are a bit rough, the game recommends a gamepad. If you turn the camera sensitivity to 2, it's not so bad

Shelving it for when I finish the 40 other games I've started Crying or Very sad

You can! The default running feels like you're on crack, so walking is helpful. I did try a gamepad too, which felt a lot better overall. Especially for combat. But what can you do, nobody deducts points for PC controls.

No UE5 stutter from what I played

For those with perf. issues:

No FSR support, extremely slow XeSS on AMD GPUs, mandatory software raytracing. If you are having performance issues, you can use OptiScaler to force DLSS+FG emulation.

Runs fine on my ancient rig in sig at 1080p, High Preset, XESS on Quality. Bit of a bloomy blurry mess (not sure if the XESS is at fault for this or not), but definitely playable and enjoyable.

The game may look like shit with it's overuse of bloom, blur, and vignette, but it's a fucking work of art. The environmental design is great. The voice acting, for the most part is good (the minor characters are let down though). Both the story and enemy design is fantastic. The music is incredible (main theme song vocalist kinda reminds me a bit of Indila for some reason).

Apart from one crash, which wasn't a big deal as it had autosaved right beforehand, I'm having a blast. It's a JRPG without the janky ass J shit, and I'm all for it. Definitely going to be one of those games you remember long term - even if the combat does grow stale after a while.

It's about goddamn time some western devs put out a quality title. Good job France!

Also, Ixi's people make an appearance as well - as Minion-esque tribals and they're funny as hell! Laughing

@headshot @Immunity

Exactly my thoughts as well.
I didn't even heard about this game before and I am having a real blast.
(Also one the first good use of my Gamepass account)

Are these devs former Ubisoft employees as the rumor tells ?

I think they just created a new game category here, something like ... FRPG Very Happy

These guys left Ubisoft to make this. Hopefully this will give hope to other devs considering the same move.

You can turn of many things like motion blur, vignette, chromateric abberation and so. Only Bloom is fixed as far as I can tell. But then it's UE5, so there might be additional tweaks possible.

I am about 4 hours in, didn't read your spoiler yet. While I generally like the game, specifically with bosses or optional harder enemies, you really need to dodge/parry like 100% of attacks. They hit waaay too hard to just take the damage. I am totally in love with this game and don't really mind the qtes for the attacks, they are very annoying for defending because they are basically mandatory. It's basically git gud at parrying or don't defeat the boss.

Also that means that 60fps is a must for this game. I can't imagine anyone managing all those timings on 30fps.

You can turn the QTEs off, no? But perhaps not while defending?

TBH I'm too slow and old for parrying/timed inputs and usally QTEs annoy me. (One of the reason i disliked sekiro and barely was able to finish it(yes im that bad))

Luckily you can "disable" the QTEs so the game inputs them itself.
Besides that i turnedthe difficulty down to easy which supposedly makes the timed inputs like parry or dodging easier.
Till now i didnt have huge issues besides some optional bosses that are probably much higher level than me. Despite playing on easy its still fun and engageing and not "too" easy.

I'm in act 2 now and i really enjoy the story.
Who would have thought that ex ubi devs that dont go the generic open world route and dont focus on politics could make a good game.

Happy for them tbh and yeah the game sold well.

500k copies in the first day and rising.
Steam peak: 76,500 k atm and still rising and that despite being in the same time frame where oblivion remastered released and the game being on gamepass + no copy protection.

i'm pretty sure they'll fix those annoyances w patches (i.e. difficulty spikes, QTE timings)

so best to just patientbear it out i guess

also , this game was made by less than 30 people? that's pretty impressive. will _buy_

Afaik you can turn them off only for your attacks.

Correct.
QTEs are for attacks/actions like healing to make them more powerful.
Dodge/Parry are manual and you need to press those according to the enemies attack sound or animation like in all the other games that have similar systems.

On easy most of the time messing up doesnt mean instadeath.

Some Bosses hit HARD or can just remove the Character they hit straight up from the fight on Normal and above. Usually those attacks are very well telegraphed though.
