FAQ:

** What is *RoadCraft*? Is it a *SnowRunner* extension? ❄️ **

It’s a new experience, built on a new engine focused on driving and manipulating heavy construction vehicles. It is not meant to replace or follow *SnowRunner *or *Expeditions*.

** What is the purpose of the game? 🚧 **

The focus of the Game is to repair the infrastructures of areas devastated by natural disasters. *RoadCraft *pushes you to alter your environment, to reach your goals.

** Can I drive trucks? Or is it just fleet managing? 🚚 **
Yes, you can drive trucks and heavy machinery, there will also be automated convoys to trace and manage.

** Can I build buildings or just roads? 🏗️ **
The focus is on fixing infrastructures: roads, bridges, electricity, manipulating sand, asphalt, debris, as part of your toolkit.

** Are steering wheels compatible with *RoadCraft*? ** 🛞
We intend to support basic hardware, features at launch. The variety of construction vehicles and their complex controls, makes compatibility a challenge. We will keep working on additional support post-launch!

** Will the in-game physics be the same as in *SnowRunner*? ** ⚖️
We’re still using the Havok physics engine, but the major iteration of this Swarm engine comes with a noticeable difference compared to *SnowRunner*. This will also be reflected in the unique gameplay.

** How many maps will there be at Launch?** 🗺️
There are 8 maps planned for the launch, 2 main biomes.

** How many missions will there be at Launch? ** ✅
The game’s sandbox approach allows you to choose your own objectives but each map will offer a few dozen main and side objectives to guide your efforts.

**Can we build roads anywhere on the map?**
Yes!

** Will there be mods at Launch?** 🔧
As it is a new engine, the editor will be different. We’re focused on bringing the map mods as soon as possible. Our next step would be Truck mods after that.
More info will be shared with modders before launch.

**Will there be co-op at launch?**
Yes there will be multiplayer and crossplay at launch. The in-game voice chat will also be available at release.

It'd be much more interesting if they allowed the player to be a corrupt contractor, overcharging the national and local authorities for services, while simultaneously getting in bed with the mob and other nefarious agencies. Basically, managing the business side of the organization in addition to the cleanup.

Strapping on a hardhat and getting in a bulldozer is something the me of 30 years ago might have found enjoyable, not anymore though. Sad

looks good to me, i'm bigger on these sort of things than i was 30 years ago.. i appreciate the effort that goes into how things are made. captain of industry re-vitalized my interest in road/landscaping projects too Twisted Evil

got a bit of an addiction to road building after deathstranding and various other infrastructure building games
it's a much more interesting direction than simply trucking things around honestly

no doubt it comes to epic games first.. i bought snow runner there but i'm just going to pirate this one if they pull the same shit Laughing

The gameplay loop looks just a bit too boring and one-note. Building some roads is one thing, how about houses and trainstations/tracks, etc? Plus the whole management aspect, hiring contractors and such.

There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.

Ohhh..how did I miss this?
Time for me and my friends to spend a lot of time again like mud/snowrunner flipping each other back over after we got stuck/tipped over.

No fuel mechanic, no vehicle damage overall kinda boring since there isnt really a way to fuck up or the need for rescue operations.

Have to try it, not sure if not having to swap to a fuel/repair truck to follow me over and over, will be better or worse.
But in snowrunner, running out of fuel, or damaging it to the point it made driving harder wasn't ever our problem.
For fuel&repair in multiplayer we always had someone is 'fuel ox' and follow us. In singleplayer it was drive 1/2 a mile, swap to fuel&repair truck following, and catch up.

So that being gone to have to do might be good? Have to see. As fuel and repairs was just always one of us wasn't 'doing' anything other than following the others like a puppy.

It was just getting stuck or falling over and cargo falls out was our struggle.

No fuel also mean you can just blast AWD all the time since theres no real tradeoff anymore. With no Damage you wont have to be careful going down ridges etc anymore.
There also seems to be no manual gearbox and from the things ive seen so far most machines are just press a button and watch the animation.

That's what we did anyway, AWD with locked diffs unless on the road where it fucks with the damage to the axle. When you have a dedicated fuel hog with you, fuel is just an annoyance. Same with damage, the only thing it caused us to do was have to stop for 30 seconds so the fuel/repair guy could fix it. if a cliff was a shortcut, we'd yeet ourselves off it and let him repair us when he got down.

Not saying that they aren't details others would give it a hard pass for. Just since we always played it MP. Fuel and repairs just made it so one of us got the 'shit' job of playing tag along. And we changed who got the 'short stick' each job.

That would have been too punishing for a game that has the focus on something else.

Got the demo, going to give it a try as well

Dunno if I like it. its good, just not what I expected.

I'd say it's more "Farming simulator" for construction. Than snowrunner-esque for construction.

Me and friend had fun in co-op. But only because of the 'new game smell' we think. We spent more time going: Aww, well damn that sucks..wish it had this, or that.

And the challenge of driving? It feels...flat. Getting stuck isn't fun or challenging, its just tedious and annoying. I dunno if its the physics, or lack of 'feeling' like you are in mud like showrunner.
While showrunner can also be tedious for mud, it felt rewarding. Here it doesn't. Both are a 'timesink' but here you really just feel that part of it.

And the camera is annoying as all get out. None of the three driving camera options feel right for me. Or at least I cannot figure out how to get it to predictably 'dynamically stay' where you place it, as in follow you from that angle you'd expect it to. You turn? Got to grab the mouse and reposition the camera.

Agree.

What about road construction feature in Snowrunner game.

Is this too much to ask ?

They now have 3 differents games (SR, Expeditions and now this one) which all have some very nice features but terribly lack features from each others...

Such a waste of opportunity here, I would insta buy a Snowrunner 2 game including all this stuff.

Rolling Eyes
