A banned NSW2 makes it quite useless : you cannot install any game updates (whether NSW1 or 2) and thus NSW2 patches. You also cannot redeem any digital game/buy them on eShop (and many of them are digital only these days) nor you can download "Game Key card" only games.
At least, a banned NSW that can use CFW can install dumped games, updates and DLC.
Until NSW2 is hacked and games+update+DLC are dumped, I would be quite worried having such a worthless console. Basically you could just play NSW1 carts and that's it (and unpatched ones since you cannot install patches). A glorified crippled NSW1 (glorified because some NSW1 games use dynamic resolution and uncapped framerates and will run faster on NSW2).
Not only that but keep in mind that even if MigSwitch could load dumped NSW2 carts, you'd still wouldn't be able to updates games and install "key card only" games (these are basically a small file on the cart, which tells the switch 2 to download a game update). And any server interaction with Nintendo needs an unbanned console.

Underwhelming for you, but not for people. It's one of the best selling console at launch if not the best (and above NSW1).
People most likely bought it for the same reason as the Steam Deck I guess : "look I can play PS4/downgraded PS5 games on a portable console". Now you can say this because NSW1 was too crippled to pretend this.
Other than that yeah Mario Kart isnt anything groundbreaking for me, but Donkey Kong looks amazing and is reelasing in 1 month so it's ok I guess and close enough.
As I said in a previous post, just buy it now, the price won't change in 1 month (if anything, it will be increased).
Also, Zelda on NSW1 was just a Wii U game that had leaked on the Wii U a few days before the actual release so I can't say I was excited at all for the NSW1. At least Mario Kart World is a unique game that doesn't play anywhere else. NSW1 unique game at launch was... 1-2 Switch which IS quite underwhelming.
Oh and did you see the new DK videos? It looks like it's gonna be a great game, similar to Mario Odyssey. Most likely people also bought it in anticipation, what's 1 month to wait, really?
Oh and I suggest you guys to play Fast Fusion, it's a great indie game / Fzero clone. And not ported anywhere else.

Sounds like you didn't instabuy it so "it sucks". Just buy it, you'll see you'll end up instabuying Cyberpunk and Hogwarts Legacy all over again, and suddenly you'll be like "hey I can play Cyberpunk on the bus, how amazing you guys should buy it!!!!!!". You'll even forget about DK Bananza releasing in 1 month, mark my word!
I agree with all the critisism. But this is missing the point. It's such an improvement over the Switch 1. That one is a piece of junk, it can only do some Nintendo exclusives at an acceptable framerate but most games are completely unplayable on that system.
The switch 2 can render open world at 1440p 30-60FPS. And that's what it has to do as a portable console in 2025. Suddenly the older switch titles are playable.
It's a good buy if you own a switch and use that one once in a while for the Nintendo exclusives. Nintendo's pricing is an issue off course. But if money isn't the issue and you'll own a swich, this is a no brainer to buy.
Given the immense sales of the (in my view) unusable switch 1, this will be a hit regardless.

I think trying the Switch 2 at a friend's place will make many sceptics change their mind. Apart from the mediocre screen, this is a perfect evolution to Nintendo's previous system. It can render a pleasant image on a current state-of-the-art TV in docked mode, something that Nintendo's consoles haven't managed since the Gamecube. And it serves as a perfectly crafted gaming tablet, you have to hold it in your hands to experience how firm and wobble-free the joycon attach to the console and how ergonomic the system feels to use as a handheld.
The screen is fine, since it's 120hz and hdr it's better then the Switch oled. People complaining are nitpicking. Haven't noticed any blurring. Only downside is that for some reason nintendo put a plasic foil on it that scratches, so if you intended to travel with it or give it to a kid you'll need a screen protector.
I taught my son to only use it docked though, problem solved.

People crticizing it are just people who didn't buy it and are watching too much YouTube / influencers *hint* *hint*.
Funny because the same people are praising NSW1.
If anything, NSW1 sucks REALLY hard (and was outdated when it was released, your memory must be fuzzy), is still expensive for what it is, and won't be supported much if at all after Metroid 4 (which is gonna be a downgraded version).
I can understand the debate with Steam Deck OLED vs NSW2 though. But now, can you play Nintendo games on the Steam Deck ?
Sorry if it sounds like i'm a fanboy, I'm not, the only recent Nintendo consoles I owned were the Wii U and the NSW1. And I liked them because of the 1st party games which were mostly great (and am I a fanboy for thinking Zelda BOTW and Mario Odyssey were great games ?). I stopped caring about 3rd party games on it, it sucked too much. Now I'm glad I can get rid of my NSW1 for a better system, I was tired of subpar 480p 20fps games. Even Nintendo games were starting to crawl on it (Zelda TOTK is running like ass for instance).

5.Trash screen that is actually worse than the switch 1 (plain jane) screen according to digital foundry.

No, that's some influencer drama. Technically they are ALLOWED to do it in the US (not EU) but they won't. If you had read the EULA properly (you didn't) you would have seen they are not saying anything about "bricking your console". Replacce "bricking" by "banning" and it would still apply.

It's a PC handheld. The market changed it's not an empty stage anymore. Nintendo would do better by adapting and competing instead of squeezing every penny out of the pockets of its fans.
Dunno how you can excuse all that anti consumer bs with the gamekeycards, higher game prices etc while there is almost zero innovation. Just ignoring it wont make it better. Just protect the corporate overlords until switch 3 so they can charge even more and do other crazy stuff.

Hope Nintendo pulls more Bs and gets all of your money have fun paying 80 bucks I guess. They rarely put the 1st party games on sale. Even if the industry follows suit at least on other platforms that take cuts from everyone you still get cheaper prices after a while.
I never bought any physical game on NSW1 nor am I buying my games full price because I don't buy on the french store (see above, i'm repeating myself), so not a problem for me.

All true, but still this doesn’t make switch 2 a bad console. It does what it has to do: render 1440p in 60 fps. It’s not high end hardware. But good enough for a solid user experience. The switch 1 failed in that aspect cause it couldn’t render it’s own exclusives at decent quality.
Next gen can be a problem. But those games should be able to work at basic settings. But it’s not the focus of this console. I don’t own a single cross platform game for the switch. Besides lego city btw for my son. And that one still looks like shit on the switch 2.

You are right I didn't watch the video because I have both consoles so I don't need people to dictate me what I think is better or not, I have my own opinion.
Now you make me curious i'm gonna watch the video and report because honestly I find the screen better : it has 1080p (vs 720p before), HDR, 120Hz and VRR unlike NSW1 and the brigthness is similar (I have a picture of both screen that I sent to a friend as soon as I bought it). So I'm gonna watch the video when I have time to understand why DF says it sucks (maybe it sucks on some aspects that I have yet to experiment like playing facing the sun and it's better on some other aspects?).

Nintendo didn't use OLED not because "they were lazy" but because it would have made the console even more expensive. Remember what happened with the PS Vita ?
