This is an ad not a review. I don't think I heard a negative thing being mentioned.

Is it just me, but why would they cast that weird nystagmatic actor Pruitt Taylor Vince, who always plays creeps of different intensities, as Jonathan Kent?

It has bugged me since I saw the first trailers.
Don't they have more fitting alternatives?

Watched it at cinema. This was stupid, so many plot holes. An ok entertainment if you switch off the brain but as almost everyone mentioned Gunn should stick to wacky characters.

I never thought I'd see Superman get kicked in the balls by another superpowered being but here we are. Laughing

I never get superman movies anyway. I have no idea why we can ever actually see superman do superman things. it should be one frame of the scene has a blur in it, if we are lucky.
According to canon: He can move at the speed of light, reflexes faster than the flash, with super strength that matches the max hulk, and practically unharmable. Why is he ever fighting crime in ways other than that? For the challenge, by gimping himself?

he is "solar powered" though! depending on the sun he could be depleted.

isn't this the case with almost all super heroes though, that sometimes you wonder why they just didnt use this or that ability. i think its kind of easy to get over though, having played RPG's where you cant use abilities all the time.

The problem with Superman is that well he is Superman - almost flawless - thus boring. The last comic book I read with him was Kingdom Come and truly don't know much lore about him or other supercapes.

I think Gunn tried to gimp him here - as he is regulary beaten down in the movie and naive (in contrast to Snyder's one) but he didn't do it subtely. So we got too gimpy and too naive Superman.

yes, reeves superman worked for its time but made for today is boring. still dosent stop a handful of people to cry to make that version. havent seen the new movie but from the reviews it seems gunn made a movie more for comic geeks rather than normal audience, stiill not good

for better or worse i liked the ideea behind snyders vision, a feared god is much more interesting but apperently too dark for many

Yes but....using tabletop min max 'Superman as RAW' (rules as written).

He has no limit (at least in most canon) how much sun energy he can store. And in the same, can withstand the surface of the sun.
So: Spend 7 minutes one day flying to the sun (Speed of light) absorb exponentially more concentration of sunlight than the narrow narrow few arcseconds of stray photons that manage to hit our planet from all the output of the sun. Be powered for centuries at persistent top expenditure.

Why I never really got into superman, they show him using various powers in niche cases over decades. That if he used them on other situations each comic would be 1 page long. Well maybe 2: One to setup the problem, one to show it fixed with a blur in the middle of the two panels.

Luther hiding something to destroy the world? You move at the speed of light and live forever (hypothetically, and that matters as time moves for you at the speed of light. just everything else stops) you can get the message, search the entire planet and ocean in whatever the shortest amount of time exist at the speed of light:

not a bad movie, has its moments, david is a good superman, but tonally not my thing, felt like watching a cartoon, too marvel like. guess the batman part 2 will be the last gritty dc movie

I didn't hate it, but I also didn't like it. For me the best character was Lex, and then the dog. Kara at the end was a fun addition. I think Henry Cavil fit this role better. Superman here reminds me of how he was portrayed by the Christopher Reeves (and this is not a good thing in my book).

Other than that, it fas fast paced, it had good moments, it had not so good ones. CGI was solid except handful of scenes when use of green screen was a little to obvious. Overall, an average production.

I would like them go back to 1 hero vs 1 villain plus maybe 1 or 2 sidekicks. Those current superhero movies are for me just overcrowded with characters I just don't care about which dilutes already not that strong story.

Last Batman wasn't that great either. Why the cast Robert Pattinson.

yes. say wat u will about snyders take but the cancelation of that wasnt worth it over wat we got now. the movie didnt even hit 600mil $ yet so they fast tracked it to digital, i dont think it even left theaters, they try so hard to not make it look like its a flop

Lex's plan and actions during carrying out parts of his plan didn't make much sense to me, but Lexes in other movies/media sometimes have been portrayed as totally unhinged. So, I guess it's fine.
However, society's reaction to Superman was changing unbelievably rapidly and very drastically .
US government possible involvement in Lex's illegal prison should have been properly addressed in the movie as well.

Here's a reddit post on some of the inconsistencies in Superman 2025

https://www.reddit.com/r/DCcomics/comments/1lymopr/discussion_the_many_problems_with_lex_luthors/

I am not sure this movie is superior to Snyder's Man Of Steel or to Singer's Superman Returns.
