Lord of the Rings: Felllowship of the Ring (Extended).

Probably my 8th viewing something. Still good, the first half is especially amazing and exciting, after that it feels more linear and a little more boring, the battles (vs orcs, goblins) has never been my favorite either in the books or in the movies, but they're well executed. 9/10

LOTR: The Two Towers. The lighting has aged so fucking poorly lol. I hated it when it was released and i hate it even more now. Grey skies and darkness and then the protagonists are absolutely drenched, BLASTED, in sunlight and with saturation turned down 80% to try to counter it which makes the colors look SO bad. Looks so fucking fake, it could have been recorded in a studio and it would likely have looked better. I guess overcast weather isnt really a thing in NZ, or they just didnt give a shit and thought post-production could fix it.
Apart from that i still love the movie. 8/10

The Amateur 6/10
Rami Malek is just too weird to play a role like this Laughing He really felt out of place and made me realize I don't really like him as an actor, apart from his character in The Pacific. Pretty decent movie otherwise though.

Ballerina 3/10
If Rami is out of place, then Ana de Armas is out of this universe Laughing Movie is named Ballerina because she's part of a Russian group, and... Russian ballet is a thing? Apart from a 20 second scene at the start... A massive missed opportunity to have action scenes choreographed to the swan lake or the nutcracker.

The Life of Chuck 7/10
Nice Stephen King adaptation. No horror/thriller, but a coming of age (or rather life?)

Star Trek: The Next Generation 9.5/10
Brilliant show. The final episode of s7 was a great goodbye but man, what can fill this void now? I'm thinking about just starting from the first episode again Very Happy

How does Deep Space 9 compare?
I haven't seen Babylon 5 yet, which is supposed to be even better, so that's next.

House of Gucci - 6/10

Yet another rather underwhelming Ridley Scott movie, with clumsy pacing and some cartoonish itsa me, Leto! overacting that ruined the flow of the dialogues despite ol' Al doing his best given the circumstances (even Gaga looked the part here). While the story has its intriguing moments, the production itself felt tired and as tacky as Gucci's ridiculously overpriced goods.

28 Years Later - u wot alpha m8 /10

The movie started off with the right foot and for a while, it even tricked me into thinking it could be genuinely good thanks to its poignant melofamilydrama and twitchy editing. Then the suspension of disbelief started to progressively crumble with logic going out of the window multiple times in a row (and never coming back), while boosting the tonal mishmashes until the Power Chavengers ending put the definitive icing on top of the iodine cake. SHAME

@Il_Padrino DS9 is totally worth it, it gets better after the first season and will very likely leave you behind with a very similar feeling than now.

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Superlame 5/10

This was shockingly bad, especially considering all the hype and buildup around it. Superman has no charisma at all. And how/where does that dog (which annoyed the shit out of me, I hate it when pet owners don't train their dogs Laughing ) even come from?
I take Snyder's & Cavill's version any time over this.

Weirdos fucking, who wants to watch that Confused

Armas = hot, naked Jude Law Laughing not Mad

True story? "The film centers on Dr. Friedrich Ritter and his wife Dora, who settle on Floreana in 1929 to escape society and pursue a simpler, more meaningful existence."

"The film had a budget estimated between $30–50 million, with a modest gross of $825,041."

Did this movie flop straight on it's head Laughing so it's lagging by 49mil$, wth

Started out pretty good, then went downhill really fast after the first half. And what a shitty ending. I wonder what Boyle is/was smoking.

I remember some hype around it back then because it was apparently pretty scary. Haven't actually seen it myself, yet.

The book, on the other hand, was incredibly boring Laughing

I enjoyed it the first time 8 years ago and decided to rewatch it again.
Nice sci fi concept. I wish young actors acted little more skillfully though.
Some dialogues should have been more polished.

Watched this with wife:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Little_Prince_(2015_film)

1/10.
Total crap. Only gets a 1 for the few and far between actual story bits they shoehorned in now and then (the parts animated different to emulate the book art).
Otherwise a totally random, generic story about a single parent family struggles, in the most generic pixar/disney animated style you can think of that has zero to do with the actual story its named after.

They took one of my favorite books and slapped the name of it on the movie, and just enough vague bits out of it to be able to sell a totally different story using its name. It's really just a story focused on a single parent family moving towns to start new, that the kid happens to be reading/listen about the Little Prince...

And MAN did the ending piss me off, like really the worst way they could have used the characters from the book, to end a movie about the book. Misses the whole damn point of the ending of the book. Not just 'we didn't end it like the book' but a slap in the face directly to the book.
