F1 The Movie 6.5/10

Visually impressive, but the writing is pretty bad. I hated the commentators during the races in particular. What a cheap and lazy way to tell a story, jesus Laughing
A better movie would have had snappy dialogs between team and drivers to involve the viewer. But directly telling the audience, pretty much breaking the 4th wall, is just lazy Rolling Eyes

Paddington in Peru: 3/10. What a disappointment. First two were fun to watch. This wasn't.
Captain America: Brave New Turd: 2/10. WTF was this writing I Am Disappoint
Thunderbolts*: 6/10. Wasn't too bad, but suffers greatly from pacing issues. It started way too slow. Then midway turning into bad sentry men it went too fast.

Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning: 6.5/10. Writing didn't make too much sense and apart from the decent airplane stunt, there weren't enough of them. Quite silly at times, especially Tom's new hair cut, which looks ridiculous.

F1: The Movie - Bono, my tires are gone /10

I imagine that quite a few people who don't follow Formula 1 might find the movie entertaining or even mesmerising to some degree thanks to the constant high-octane action and solid visuals. Unfortunately, all I got was a dose of genuine facepalming like in those career stories from the games, but with considerably more 'Murican cringe involved due to the laughable premise and its developments. Not to mention that with the modern rules Sonny "Max Damage" Pitt would've collected multiple race bans in a row, making the Crashgate from 2008 look like trivial business in comparison Laughing

It is an obvious ad with extra steps as expected, one that's derpier than necessary and fully belongs to the Holly-fi genre.

The Monkey - 8/10

I was not expecting this splatter fun. I can't remember the short story by Stephen King, but surely its very losely based on it?
Eitherway, i know i gave it rather high score - but thats probably cos all of us who watched it was in a very good mood and had great fun Smile

Thunderbolts* depressing/10
Depression squad fighting depression man. It had one redeeming quality - the bad guy, wasted on on a unfunny selfdeprecating movie.

Together - good/10
Some good horror movies this year and this one was one of them. Brought by man reposinble for Wizards of Aus of all places. Bodyhorror, so my jam Frap Frap Guy

Sketch - very good/10
Great fantasy adventure movie for kids and adults alike. Reminded me of the 80s, early 90s kids adventure movies.

Asterix & Obelix: The Big Fight 8/10
https://m.imdb.com/title/tt14164922/

2 more episodes to go, but this is really good. Looks great, and the jokes are taken straight from the comics.
Also, the spoken French is hilarious at times (the parts I understand, of course, because they talk like a TGV), like the kids in the first episode or the roman soldiers.
Very much recommended, especially if you like Asterix (was my favorite comic as a kid, so I might be biased).

How dare they replace this gem of a character:

"Chabat aimed to create a faithful"
"Besides Metadata, the miniseries includes several important female characters while the original story had none."
Ah, faithful™.

All kidding aside, it looks pretty good otherwise, might check it out at some point Smile Or just rewatch the old drawn ones again.

Watched Asterix last week, rating 7/10.
Of course they had to force in female characters again even a black one but they're kept in small side roles. The artstyle is slightly off and lacking detail and especially Caesar looks somewhat wrong.
Atmos sound is pretty good. Some nice jokes both new ones and from the comics. Story is alright, it diverges a lot from the comics towards the second half but overall it was still enjoyable Asterix.

I'm having a very hard time with the butchering of mismatched standout moments taken from the albums shoehorned for a quick gag.
And that “Metadata” is a far cry from any character in the A&O roster. And there were plenty of teenagers (if you need to have one) to take inspiration from.

Disclaimer: I´m grown reading Asterix, have read all the Goscinny albums dozens of times so i´m probably judging this harsher than it deserves

Yeah, the last couple of episodes are a bit less, they deviated more from the comics and it wasn't as good as the first half. But still one of the better Asterix movies/shows in a while.

You mean Naked Gun 2 1/2? Or the new one?

If new one I agree. 3-4 out of 10. Tried to watch it last night. Didn't finished it.
It tries, but it does feel forced. Like you can see the attempt to emulate the Airplane/naked gun comedy. And just makes it less funny than the joke they are doing is by itself, because they are trying to force that.

I am a sucker for comedy, about all I watch that isn't 'factual' stuff like science, or woodworking, or 'how its made' type shit.
But this wasn't good. Its like if family Guy tried to do Naked gun. Well it is, sort of. Seth Macfarlane produced it. He didn't direct it but you can feel that 'Stick to doing cartoon families' vibe all his movies give.

I meant The Naked Gun (2025 film). Sorry.
Also despite being boring the movie requires from you to follow the plot and to listen attentively to dialogues and to watch what's going on on the screen both on foreground and on background to attempt to catch all the intended jokes. Since jokes are not that funny, and the movie doesn't allow you to zone out, I decided it's not worth the effort and time to sit thru it till the end.

I laughed like 3 times. Not a movie to watch by yourself though, better in company with others, like most comedies, but overall pretty terrible. I was almost surprised by the sci-fi / cyberpunk-almost plot though, its not the worst idea, but not very fitting for a NG movie either.

I was surprised how bad Nobody 2 was too Sad such an utterly stupid movie, almost as dumb as Naked Gun which is kind of telling for something which isnt supposed to be parody/comedy. I've played indie FPS games with better and less stupid story and better characters than that movie. Decent fights and action etc but meh. I hate the John Wick movies too though, so its probably just not for me.

@zenux
Same one I was speaking of. Very Happy

I'm with you, the jokes are too 'audience needs buy in' to work. And some are too...long? Drawn out? not sure the right wording. They take too much setup, and time to be worth the payout.

Either in the whole scene was made for that joke, and it's like Norm McDonald 'Moth' Joke (if you know what that means). But here not remotely funny for the time spent on setting it up.
Or its stretched over multiple scenes trying to do the comedy staple of a 'call back' and failing at it landing.

And I still not fond of this movies Frank. Old movies Frank was good at his job by accident. He had the skill, just too oblivious of his surroundings to use it wisely. It came out by pure "He's so good, even as stupid as he is he gets his man..somehow" Like a goofy idiot savant thats special gift was police work. He embodied deadpan.
This one feels like, Meet Frank Drebin:The purposefully snarky badass, that does funny things that are funny, BECAUSE it's not what a badass cop would do.

Just doesn't sit right.

The 1/2 I did watch I kept expecting him to say something like:

The Little Things 6/10
Pretty frustrating movie in the end
 Spoiler:

The Naked Gun (2025) 3/10
Same sentiment as the rest, they tried too hard.

The Naked Gun (1988) 7/10
Obviously felt the need to watch the original again. I forgot it starts with Drebin beating up all the evil leaders from back then. After rewatching this, I guess I get what they were going for with the new one, but it didn't improve it either Laughing

Eden (2025) 7.5/10
I thought this was pretty good actually. A slow burner with an all star cast, and a good pay-off in the end. Can't say I was bored, even Sydney Sweeney did a good job.
Based on a (crazy) true story, but the movie opens with the ambiguous line "as told by the survivors", so you somewhat know who'll probably die and survive based on the characters portrayals, which was a nice touch to keep you watching to see it all unfold. Smile

Weapons (2025) 7.5/10
Very Stephen King-like, more tension/character driven than "scary" horror, which I liked a lot. Pretty unbelievable premise though (no way the FBI wouldn't be involved from day 1), although the movie tried to explain that too. Satisfying ending too Laughing
