Really looking forward to this one. I loved FH4. FH5 not so much. Mexico wasn't in my books as a desirable location for an open world racing game and I just don't like the environment when playing FH5. Before the location of FH5 was revealed I and many other FH4 players were crossing our fingers for Japan as the next location.

I think FH5 suffered with a lot of used assets from FH4. They really need to stop with HotWheels recycle all the time.
I wish this series offered more believable physics, an actually rewarding sense of progression and an overall structure free from the usual festival-centric circus, but that would mean alienating the core audience
I'm assuming it has to be done through Steam and not xbox app right? And then run via proton?
Yes. If you plan on playing on Linux, definitely buy the Steam version. Or use the isodemo version; I’m sure you can use that as a non-Steam game and force Proton Experimental.
Your biggest issue with Linux gaeming is that 5080. I hear nVidia drivers on Linux are still miserable.

Honestly, I have not had any issues with the 5080. Anno 117 runs flawlessly. Assetto Corsa Rally runs great too. So does Fallout76. I've been using the CachyOS Proton version along with their tweaks and things just work.
I'll give the steam version a try and see, if it don't work, I'll refund hehe. Though playing FH5 on a big screen TV on my PS5 Pro is amazing though
NVidia drivers for the 5 series are very spotty. Sometimes they work, sometimes there is a 25%+ unexplained gap with Windows, and sometimes the cards stutter like motherfuckers. Very different from AMD drivers, where the Linux stack trades blows with Windows and sometimes performs better.

Yea, so far it's been pretty smooth experience here. Funny how there are alternative ways of doing things. For example, I've used MSI Afterburner to undervolt the 5080 on Windows. Here on Linux, I have a python script that executes some nvidia stuff to do just that...
I'll definitely upgrade to a new AMD card once they release it.
