C'mon, man.

It's literally the same game with a new lick of paint. DX:R just has less paint.

I'd be more for Oblivion it if it didn't feel like 2006 all over again - floaty movement, poor performance, copy paste dungeons, shit levelling etc. Then there's the new colour grading which takes the vibrance from Cyrodiil.

Feels like a typical low effort Bethesda move, sending it to a third party by the way, instead of making something new with substance

I don't think either is ideal. Resident Evil 4 remake - that's how you treat a classic with respect!

Performance and gameplay aside, I was talking exclusively about the looks.

It DID look like an upgrade / significant improvement.

At least reblivion did away with *some* of the originals awful animations. This isn't going to, as seen from those NSF'ers moving like retards in the teaser, just like in the original Laughing

At least it has completely new visuals, not just ai upscaled textures, models made in Poser 1.0 and, I assume, equally terrible performance.

I didn't ask for this Dude Sad

Anything that Aspyr is involved in should be considered a low-effort waste of time. They're either lazy or incompetent (or both).

The Tomb Raider 1-3 remaster was the only one that brought some actual improvements (mouse controls + removal of the 30fps cap), though at the cost of having to deal with rather cheap AI-generated textures/altered lighting put together with duct tape. And most of the hard work engine-wise came from the OpenLara guy, who ended up being hired by Aspyr since they couldn't get anywhere Laughing

Found out about the PS2 port just a short while ago, figured it'd be an easy port of that to the latest consoles.

Positively surprised to see that it is more than that, will be fun to see how it turns out but the original, especially with with mods, is still going strong.

Or you can also kinda break it entirely, Paul is bro enough to hand over the GEP immediately at the start of the game after all and that is just the beginning of things.

Not sure on balancing changes but some of those augment choices and skills had some dubious worth or were only worth limited investment, although it works for the most part.

AI, combat feel and that whole thing, level design and so much more that could get altered, but will it be improved or worsened?

Thought the series was going to be in hiatus in fact, once that deal with Embracer and Saudi Arabia fell through and a lot of projects got canned.

The Gothic trilogy is heading over to console as well, that is going to be one hell of a porting project. This at least has "The Conspiracy" to build on how to modernize the game for the gamepad or console player base.
And how the actual PC port will run and perform, ongoing wonders with micro stuttering and shader caches.

But first to see how the game shapes up and what comes out of this work. Smile
