What are the chances this is a rich millenial manchild Saudi prince, who loved FIFA as a kid, and wants it to go back to the quality it was in the past, bought EA to make sure its games are "back to the roots" of the late 90s, early 2000s?
Read an article about this and this deal is even worse.
E.A. believed this was the best deal for shareholders cause the industry is tanking (good thinking)
The investors will load e.a. with 20 billion of debt to fund this shit. They want to cut costs… using AI and go all in on live services.
A company like EA could vanish tomorrow with their Biodrones, worn-out tripeA franchises and card farming factories, and my gaming self wouldn't even notice it. The same applies to Ubisoft and the like, they've all been irrelevant to me for more than a decade anyway so my only reaction to this kind of news is ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

No worries. It's rumoured that EA will release an AI enhanced F2P version of 2013 Sim City. You'll get acces to new buildings by opening lootboxes. Progress is a little slow but EA has got you covered, there will be premium pass with a monthly fee of 29,99$ for faster unlocks.

You think it could get worse than multiple expansion packs that cost as much as the base game did before it went free? Well possibly.
I was waiting for ixi's leak images. Maybe the new ownership will turn the game into the right direction?
Well, it's still too early to know the extent of all the improvements that can be brought to the various franchises, though I reckon there won't be many substantial changes when it comes to the core mechanics and features since they're already rock-solid.
I had a little talk with the PIF Prince Mohammed Al Itsindegame and he sent me some very wip pre-alpha concepts that, however, should give a glimpse of the general ideas in place:
It's worth mentioning that the Christian equivalent featuring deployable automatic rifles, popemobiles and dungeons filled with altar boys will of course be available as well in the final game as part of the deal!
