Agreed. It had it's moment in time. It was almost almost 25 years ago. Let's move on.
Eh can't even agree with that. Unless you'd never had played an SP FPS until the original gaylo (and the derpsole offering for those was pretty slim back then), to this day I can't see what's so special about it.

Whether you can see it or not, it was special at least for the first half of the game. For a console FPS it was certainly impressive from a graphical standpoint. The narrative/story was deep as well. It wasn't the 10/10 that it was scored as but it was a very good game...for it's time.
It was the little touches that made it magical for me. I wasn't a gamer until i see this game and ive played it to death. Ripples on the light bridge from your foot steps or tyres. Plasma blasts on walls leaving a slowly fading glow. Looking really close at forerunner wall textures and noticing they were really detailed and 3D and the physics for the warthog and sticky grenades thrown on things were so much fun!

Yep, today I understand how peasant consolers were impressed when the first Halo arrived, but when the game was shown to me back then and got to play it on a friend's derpbox I recall losing interest very quickly.
