indeed, for a show releasing very soon not much info out there but its slowly building up anticipation for an event show rather than just another new tv show releasing....but yeah day 1 watching regardless of any new trailers or not

I guess it's a bit stimulating!

Or will they resort to stretching an unoriginal single movie idea of last man on Earth to entire run of the series?
I am also not too enthused by the thespian chops of the actress playing protagonist.
Spanish speaking recluse Manousos is supposed to be in 7 episodes according to imdb. Let's hope he'll present some new plot points and challenges, cause otherwise the series is rapidly turning into quite a stale one.
There's quite a bit of ways this can be milked for a while

Aside from "fun" episodes about asking questions on who murdered JFK, we're still pretty isolated. The remaining people pose significant danger to the hive, she can disable a whole planet by throwing a hysteric fit marathon at any point.
The hive doesn't want smart people collaborating, hence the comment that "they reached nuclear submarines/space station first". So my guess is that the hive only allowed the protagonist to meet with people she cannot plan something bigger with, ie loyalists that help sell the idea that life in the hive is great (A family man, a retired man, a rich life, a lonely life cured, all the things Carol is missing, as seen by the hive).
We don't know if the hive is communicating with outside worlds or if the ability to talk to each other is pre-wired in humanity and awaits activation. We don't know if this is the only hive.
I think that "We just want to make you happy Carol" is aimed at disabling her and any other efforts from interfering with the hive's plans. In the first ep, as an offshoot comment, the scientist said that it would take a dish the size of Africa to send a signal like that, so maybe the hive is hoarding resources to build a machine for further propagation.
I don't think we've seen any animals yet either on the show, like dogs or household cats. Possibly because animals are already part of some competing hives, they all got wiped out.
In third ep Carol looked to be forming a plan in her head at the hospital. Like if hive cannot deny her request, can she trick them or make them save humanity by developing a cure to make Carol happy. Maybe that's when the hive will give her a negative answer and that would turn the tides.
I think we've not seen a conversation stimulating show for a while, maybe GoT or Lost were the last ones, we've been conditioned to be skeptic by so many bad shows, that even discussing the future possibilities of this one feels like forgotten knowledge. Plus the fear of not getting answers. But there's faith in Gilligan.
I like the premise and think this has great potential for multiple seasons, my only problem so far is the main character, very obnoxious, but I will give her the benefit of the doubt because of being in a state of shock and because of having lost a loved one. Hopefully time goes by a bit faster and she becomes more stable cause right now she has the emotional intelligence of a child (or a senile old person).
Whatever they do, hopefully it's not a retarded conclusion akin to Lost. Hopefully more intelligent people work on this show than Damon Lindelolf and Carlton Curse. In interviews, Gillians has mentioned several times that they are not "married" to ideas, which is worrisome. We'll see.
So far the show has been quite slow at establishing anything, really, other than how terrible of a person the main character is (that intro hit home quite hard for me ). On the whole, I don't find her very relatable, which I'm guessing is the point so far. I'm not sure, collectively, how much patience modern audiences have for something like this show. So hopefully they are with a finger on the pulse and don't over do the slow drip too much so as to cause the show to be cancelled before any conclusion, satisfying or otherwise.
After 4-th episode literally almost nothing has changed since the 3-d, the same hive unit's in danger. Oh, it looks like the joining might be reversed somehow, that was the plot of these 45 minutes.
Manousos was introduced, but nothing plot driving came out of this event, nor we learnt anything significant about him.
Agree. I’ve been rewatching The X Files lately, and despite seasons being full of filler episodes, as was customary back then, it is a lot more interesting, especially the “canon” episodes.
The lead is an obnoxious person. Some latin american listens to a static radio and eats of cans for 10 minutes. Whoopdie doo.
I'm intrigued by this series, but I have a feeling (at least for now) that it could have been a movie. It is a shame it is not based on a book as I would just read it and be done with it.
They apparently already ordered 2nd season so I might come back to it once everything is released as watching it 1 episode per week doesn't cut it for me.
This show is character driven, not plot driven. You're in a ride with the character, there is no rush to answer the plot point and go through a checklist. People asking for this to be shorter or faster are just suffering from tiktok brain.
I certainly hope that's not the case, and I think the plot has a lot of potential.
That being said... you might be right, in which case, given how obnoxious (and at times unlikeable) the main character has been so far, I wouldn't see myself going beyond the end of S1.
