I like what i like. That's all there is to it. I liked Veilguard also, yet i hated the controversial parts obviously.
They done did it again!
Same as Outer Worlds, they laid the bait and switch with the game's first planet/region *again* only for a downgrade on the next planets/regions (I'm 2-3 hours in the 3rd area)
It's also a FO4 level "RPG" IMO, most skills don't seem to have that much of an effect on dialogue (playing a tank with spear and shield, decided to use dual pistols for shits and giggles as backup) aside from ripping off some characters for more money with mid/high Resolve successful checks; it ends up being saved IMO by the exploration and rewards from doing so.
Story is ok, guess it'd be better if one had played the pillars games but I only played the first for some 15 hours and then dropped it.
As for the woke and weird shit, there are a few girlbosses and some gay shit ofc, but the absolute worse is the they/them dialogue popping up when discussing a few (aptly so) NPC's (even worse, it's compounding with recently having to stand that shit in some WH40K books, especially some recent ones with eldar space corsairs and ofc the undefeated pound for pound champ of they/them, AdMech).

Still woke shite in production. That scifi game by naught dog with that fugly asian woman and the other scifi with the black british woman. Travesty, but it is what it is.
Area wise it keeps going downhill. They had no clue what they were doing. We need catharsis from shitty zones, not increasingly shit zones until it ends.
Dropped it in Act 3, enough was enough. IF I do play OW2, guess only the first area will be worth the time too, since this seems to be how Obsidian (and not just them) seem to make these nowadays

I just forgot about it entirely around act 3 towards the end. OW2 is a little better.
Seems they just follow the statistics about most people never finishing games and put most of the effort in the first map.
I usually make an effort to finish games (at least the ones I'm interested in), but there have been several tripe-A entries released over the past few years that came with the ability to corrode all my eagerness through a tsunami of blandness making me raise the white flag - and Avowed definitely is one of such cases alongside Starfield, The Outer Worlds 2, not-Bloodlines 2 and the like.
From the consolish gameplay/interface to the aggressively generic writing and neutered techlology, there was little that I could salvage here to be honest, regardless of the typical habit of releasing rushed late acts/chapters.
The fall-off from the 2nd area to the first was brutal, and didn't help in the least that the party member you pick up on that 2nd area is a black girlboss
But even hours in that area before getting into the hub city with said character something was already amiss.
First area had great music and was very pleasant to fully explore.
But honestly, I'll do just fine without these games.
Just give me Underrail 2, Atom 2, eurojank like gothic remake and a couple of others and I'm good.
