The Witcher 3 is potentially asking The Witcher 4 to hang fire as The Witcher 3 could be getting its first proper DLC expansion in nearly a decade. It’s being outsourced to a different company—if it’s happening—and would follow on from Hearts of Stone and Blood & Wine.
I'm almost done with Lady of the Lake. After reading all the books, I'm more conflicted with how I feel about the games. I was never a fan of the gameplay, CDPR can't seem to land that no matter how much they try. But the overarching story in the Witcher series is all over the place and despite their great attempt at adapting the books, this is where they fail at that.
The first two games didn't have a good story direction, they don't seem to be written properly to take into account future installments. The whole Geralt being part of the Wild Hunt being one of the biggest offenders here. But while the third game, kind of forgets about these annoying plots for the better, it does really fuck up in terms of geopolitics. They backed themselves into a corner with Assassins of Kings and forced two options that don't work at all with the canon.
