Man chasing glowing items, GPS markers through walls and watching scripted set pieces over and over is as generic shooter as it gets. Honestly the post Bethesda buyout games you list above to me is beths version of Bioshock because it was selling like hotcakes on console at the time.

Arx Fatalis and DMMM have more depth than any of the post Beth stuff.

Plenty of non shooters have features like that , so is FIFA now an RPG cause it features stats, character development, dialog trees and choices in it's story mode ? (which are far more of an RPG staple then the shit you mentioned for shooters btw instead of you know: shooting...) cmon dude this is just stupid.

Isn't arx fatalis really boring? Tried playing it, but if i'm not remembering things wrong, it's just one big dark castle, which of course gets boring after a while.

It starts that way but it's fairly varied as you go down the various levels, after all it's a nod to Ultima Underworld 1 and plays fairly similar although the rune magic system can be a bit crude.
(Though the spell system is flexible, you can even use god-mode via it or summon a small deity called I think a "Golden Ylside" whom will completely wreck you, or it might be a golden co...chiken instead, bit unpredictable that way.)

And it gets scary a bit when you go down to the dwarven tunnels (damn dwarves delved to greedily and too deeply again) or crypts.

BTW:

http://arx-libertatis.org mostly fixes for stuff, they had great goals but the project is abandoned
http://arxendofsun.solarsplace.com fan made prequel using doom engine, currently in beta, have not tried it.

I replayed it a couple of years ago with the basic fixes (LAA patch to prevent crashes, Corpses Stay + FOV mod, Reshade for AO/faux HDR) and was impressed (but not surprised) by how well the game has aged with its immersive mix of linearity and sandbox-ing around. Granted, there's jank, but the fully dynamic combat and chaotic ragdoll physics are a timeless Source of fun to me. Not to mention the two big-breasted waifus Leanna and Xana, something that modern Ubisoft would never greenlight Cool Face

The game does need some rebalancing though (especially with strong abilities/powers), and it could always benefit from a fresh coat of paint so yup, looking forward to what the community can come up with.

That's great news! As a lot of Humpers, I really enjoyed it, and the Eurojank was great fun along with, as Ixi said, the general chaos that came with it.

Thanks for the update!
