Pretty handy with games that don't support FG and/or have engine limitations (e.g. 60fps cap) -- it's more or less what the good ol' Lossless Scaling also does, though with better image quality (..when it works, that is)
Can we have that RTX Morrowind from a few years that never was? Even though we had a trailer of that too?
As for this, mixed results; some look better from the little we see there, others get uncanny valley'd HARD after the touch up.

if it wasnt AI and it looked 100% the same, the same people would be amazed. Its just the same tired AI hate, so edgy and cool
its also so tiring with people who actually follows graphics and should know that any tech for graphics that just comes out will mature over time. Pretending "oh, so this is the final end result" is just childish, its not how this works.

damn what a fanboy.
ppl dont hate on it because it is a.i. but because it looks like generic slop
Yeah this is a level of retardedness i did not expect from Vurt. Entirely valid to dislike the artstyle ai produce, which this is reminiscent of. Entirely retarded to call critique of ai art edgy also
When did achieving photorealism become such an mindless goal that you would use AI to completely deface the original artstyle of your game trying to achieve it?
Is that all there is to game graphics? Photorealism no matter what?
This feels like an echo chamber where Nvidia lost the point and had no one around to tell the how absurd their goal has became...
My main problem with this is, that it completely destroys the aesthetic of a game. Will also make all games look the same. I dislike this very much.
No it doesn't. This showcase is how it could look with a generic AI model, but it's up to the developer to train it on whatever they feel is the right choice for their game.
This tech is not even out yet, it's not how e.g resident evil or Starfield would look like, it's a demo of how it could be applied if the developer used that very particular model, which is very unlikely they would use since it's a generic one.
It's like seeing a set of 3D asset and then claiming all 3D games will use them. Like the Unreal Engine showcases. Yes maybe some games uses the models that comes with the engine (pretty lame when games does that and its not seen as very creative), like low budge games. But not how it really works for the most part.
Games can actually start to look like its concept art, or at least take much more inspiration from it, where before it was impossible because its too detailed to translate to 3D.
I don't hate it, but even from those likely VERY handpicked samples it's hit and miss for me. Leon in motion was pretty weird, Wankfield character guy looked improved, character wahmen looked older, etc

it's up to devs to implement it, whether they wanna use it at all and to what extent or how its supposed to look
This is the way... otherwise, if it's just some post-game release make up by a company other than the one that developed the game, then I won't be interested in using it, at least not to the extent of the (excessive) level of coverage shown in those demo/videos.
I thought DLSS was about upscaling, not AI-slopping games..? I'm not averse to improving in-game graphics but totally changing the way characters look, slopping an AI-filter from an iPhone or something on the game which is instantly recognizable, having that plastic uncanny-valley effect? No thanks. I really hope it's optional and that better quality upscaling is still the main focus.
Amazing. Basically the equivalent of running an image editing workflow in the background. Which would be impressive in its own right, if you ignored it taking a separate 5090. But either way, this has no place in games. If you've experimented with AI image generation and editing you'd know why. But yeah, the only way this could even work imo, is if devs hard trained the AI for their specific game with concept art, full models, and all that so that it stays somewhat consistent. But then, do we think most will? Realistically, most will just slap the tech in to the game with default settings cause, that's what they do with all this shit, like UE5, like DLSS, like everything. Always the path of least resistance.
u know whats funny ... all these phones and these video chat apps have face filters that do all this shit in realtime blurring the fuck out of all insecure womens faces and changing colors lighting and face features... no need for a 5090roflol ....
