This works well. Set post processing to low btw cause it's lensflare and adding glitches.
Also do not use DLSS, only DLAA cause it's add glitches. I used 2x framegen for the needed extra frames instead. Now it almost looks decent.
yeah, this goes for all game development in existence, of course they move on while a dedicated team works on patches, maybe DLC etc. Are you new to game development??
The Hello Games team is a perfect example, they still release super large expansions and patches for NMS, all while also working on a completely new game. Hello games is not a large studio, smaller than this studio.
How the studio works with this does not need to be set in stone either, sometimes they might need additional programmers or one more 3D artist who's good at something specific etc.
This is not universally true, especially for messes such as this. On one hand you have the CEO going around, agreeing the game has bad story, on the other hand “we done, quickly churn the next suite”.
They are done. The game is released, now there will be a team working on patches etc.
This is obviously the norm. Name a game where the FULL team stayed after the game was released? It might exist for games which just failed utterly, total train-wrecks where they couldn't pass the expected sales. This is has sold 3m copies, they will likely consider it a success but in need of patches and maybe down the line additional content like a DLC.
Because a few people who don't like the game will say it's a "mess" doesn't make it a reality. It could be applied to any game in existence because all games has bugs, issues, faults and could get better in various ways depending on preference.
If Gothic 1 was released today it would get 5-6/10 in average score for sure, even if it had modern graphics and good performance. People would say the UI is a mess, controls sucks etc. People used to it would say its a non-issue for them and that the game is close to 10 for them. Different perspectives, different preferences and tolerances.
. Name a game where the FULL team stayed after the game was released?
lol dudes, i bet some part of the every fking gamedev team start working on new projects ideas concepts and so on way ahead of the release of the current one, or few as the same time.
as for the game itself it has great potential, if they fix few things and develop narrative a lil bit more the studio could have a great future. game jurnos are trash, game media is trash. i have literally no idea why are they having problems with controls, its not like there arent milion pop ups and info about them rotfl, also its not that fking hard, cmon. but to who am i even talking, game jurnos idiots cant finish easy ass tutorials in platformer or play like retarted. kojima was right, special mode with immortality and with everything x times easier, just for game media lol. seen somewhere that dude had problems with jumping on platforms, when u literally have precision jump controls, ffs whats wrong with those people.
game looks great, runs on regular 4070 suprisingly good, i can set it up with decent frames even on ultrawide screen or 4k which is nice. one thing is fking foliage, why its moves so fking much, it literally should move like 2-3 times slower lol. that causes shadows to jump all over the place which is annying, foliage moves like its fking windy storm all the time.
didnt play THAT much to say anything more but im intrigued, its the freshest thing in recent years imo in therms of big open semi rpg style games.
we need more games that does this, mixes genres, tries to take stuff to the "next level".
That's the only way we can progress. Very few dares doing this, they play it safe, they certainly did not play it safe here, and not all of that succeeded but in time it might.
what i do not like is how story is secondary. and when games does this and still succeeds, it's a message that "we don't even NEED story, because look at CD, etc etc". I wish story and lore was more important than it currently is for games
That being said, i think stories in games are to 99.9% garbage. So for me to start really liking story in games it would need a DRASTIC shift, not a "what if it was as good as BG3?!?" to me that means almost nothing, it would make the game perhaps 5% better because its still total shit, its worse than fanfiction because that's the type of people they hire for writing.
They don't want to spend the money on it and/or they are just incompetent when it comes to hiring for writing.
It's hilarious how people who complain 24/7 about consolized games are now defending a consolized control scheme. What's next? You gonna say say the UI is good?
are those supposedly the same people here with you in your room? game obivously needs to be played with gamepad, thats not suprise since i dont remember when.
Of course the main team moved on to the next project, what the actual fuck guys? if that new project is a expansion or a new game entirely is anyones guess.

I play all third person games with gamepad, it just makes more sense to me. first person, yes, you need precision, mouse/keyb is better. you do not need that precision in third person games + gamepad will obviously just feel better to play with, imo .

Cyberpunk, No Man’s Sky; two fuckups of similar proportions.

Second. But still sucks you have to aim now and then. Doing shit in the Abyss is scary cause one little mistake and you'll fall down to earth.
So then it's switching to mkb and figuring out the fucking keyboard controls.
So apart from shitty performance, shitty controls, shitty storyline and shitty visuals (according to some) what makes this game worth playing?
performance is ok, visuals are more than ok, story is hmm dunno for now, medicore? controls are completely fine, unless youre game jurno.
what makes it worth - tons of mechanics packed into one game, huge freedom, exploration, well made world, with many options of traversal.
its like elements from zelda, combined with assasins, combined with elements from skyrim, combined with dragons dogma, and tons of other stuff lol. also its fresh, different in its own way, something else than another copy paste crap in times of copy paste craps.
i got a feeling it could get underrated cult classic status if it will be fixed lil bit here and there, tho +3mln copies sold is hardly underrated lol.
Fuck me the fetch quests are horrendous. Go to quest giver>talk to person> go back to quest giver. Had one that warned about bandits. I was good, a bandit camp, finaly some action. No no, had to tell some random dude we will help them with bandits in the future. And return to quest giver.
They should have cut 75% of the game and focused on improving the game instead. What a gem this could have been.
yeah the negative narrative isn't holding water on social media
now social media has to spin it like the early game is bad somehow, but in reality they are actually just incredibly impatient and lazy people
it's wild to call this game a mess honestly, it's one of the most well-built games of all time been fantastic so far for me, 50 hours and I haven't done anything. reminiscent of RDR, but without the restrictive boring missions.. I've not seen a "fail" gameover yet just because I wanted to approach something differently than intended, there's a good deal more freedom of action here and the game ain't afraid to use it.
