i'm now well into it and it's rock solid, keep switching graphics to marvel at nice spots otherwise 1080p ultra perf dlss for me for a solid 60, and it's stable, the engine is a masterpiece, true pc snob medicine the only thing missing is controller stick speed, has a curve but maybe its enforced gameplay wise.
game as such, 9/10 so far, it's RE distilled as such

Game's intro was... meh. Almost clichéd.
It 'may' be explained later(?), but Grace is so out of place in this scenario...
A timid / insecure, frail, FBI employee sent ALONE to a macabre scene of a crime?! Cmon!
Luckily Leon is a badass MF.

I'm a couple of hours in and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. I agree with blackeyedboy, the intro was "huh? really? sending an analyst to do field work which she's clearly not trained for?". Otherwise it's a blast. So far I prefer the Grace parts; they're the horror parts. Playing Leon is just playing a shooter; not creepy or scary at all.

Yeah... they created a 'balanced' experience -- survival horror + action badassery.
But so far everything regarding Grace was... eh. Things seemed out of place for a RE game (for me).
I enjoyed A LOT more Ethan's story in RE7 and Village... I was hooked there almost right away.

Dunno man, I didn't like that intro at all. An FBI employee / agent that can barely speak or hold a bloody dossier in it's hands...?!
Makes zero sense. Pansy fragile agent sent into hell because... reasons.
Uninstall for now, since I gotta Keep on Keeping On, Kojima style, version 2.

They made her more helpless to enhance the horror and sense of real danger.
This worked best in the Mansion section of the game and made me feel the tension.

I know, but it feels... off. Forced. Gamey. Cheaply made.
At least Ethan had a damn bloody good explanation / motivation to ride and push on versus horrors, in the middle of nowhere.

I think they did a good job with assigning different mechanics to chars but the game length dumps it all. It's way too short.. I got about 10,5 hours from it. THat was pretty dfisappointing. 8/10' summed

They fucked up completely with the Grace character. There is no fucking way you can excuse her being an FBI agent, and even less so being sent alone on a field mission, with no experience and being this much of an awkward, bumbling idiot and stuttery mess. I know it's RE and it's all nonsense, but why not just make her be a civilian of sort. Like maybe a civilian consultant with the FBI and she's sent there with an actual competent agent and that's who gets killed and turned instead of the cop... I don't know. That would make it a lot more acceptable. And it would hit much better as an emotional moment if it is someone she knows.

I don't see it mentioned often, but I think Grace is very clearly supposed to be on the spectrum. This does of course not explain how she got to be an FBI agent or why she is being sent on this mission alone, but it does explain her other behaviour throughout the game.

I just finished this Resirequiem as well, a biohazardous experiment inspired by all the Capcomian titles released over the years that merges the classic survival spirit with the fuckyea action-y side. The game worked reasonably well in the context of the cheesy RE universe, but (and I agree with the criticism raised here) it didn't quite fully come together structurally and tonally.
The many cine-scripted events often marred its pacing (especially in Leon's sections), and I really really wish Grace didn't act so naively whilst sounding like she had some serious speech impediment all the time with her whimpering and stammering
Thankfully, the inspired set pieces, meaty gunplay and visual candy made up for the game's nuisances - still, Japs gonna Jap.
As for the technicalities, I had no issues (>100fps at High settings + High ray tracing on my 4070), provided I used all the AI trickeries available as per usual. REFramework + FOV Controls + Grain disabler are also mandatory to alleviate the inner consolitis. Ultimately, it was a respectable RExperience but not exactly a memorable one for me: 7 spinning chainsaws/10, would isodemo again.

I had no issues with performance either on my slightly overclocked 3070 (well, VRAM is overclocked by 1000 MHz). 1440p, >100fps with most settings at high - no ray tracing (I didn't notice much of a difference when I tried it anyway as opposed to RT in Village), DLSS @ quality or balanced. Fluffy+REFramework with a few mods (no, not the nekkid stuff that seems to be the most popular on nexusmods).
Anyway, Village is definitely my favourite of the RE games which doesn't say much since I never got into any of the previous RE-games. The few times I tried playing one of them I uninstalled it an hour later.

Village is a genuinely fun roller coaster indeed with its interconnected world, rural atmosphere and the crazy bosses - I've played through it twice and the game never really had a dull moment for me. Same with RE4/RE4make (and R3make also, despite the removed content/gimped structure). I found RE7 engaging as well, especially its unique setting and slow-paced horror-oriented design, at least until the final molded part of the game.
My favourite nuCapcomian RE is probably RE2make though, since it's a relatively faithful rendition of the original formula that retains the cohesive, methodical survival-ish flow while modernizing its mechanics. I'd recommend grabbing the First-person Camera mod too for improved viscerality(tm), it works surprisingly well.

RE Village has probably one of the most atmospheric settings in all RE games.
