I'm not sure what your problem is, but CachyOS is absolutely suitable for a desktop environment usage. I watch movies, play games, browse internet, read books and comics, edit documents and honestly Windows can suck my dick at this point. I have a dual boot set up but I have only booted Win 10 once since transition to set up an extended support thing but didn't have a need to do it because I couldn't do something in Linux.
The system is stable it does what I need it to do and when I need it to do. Everything works out of the box. There are no issues with any hardware I'm using. I'm not an average Joe and I have been using Linux on an off in the last 25 years (but not in last ~8 or so). I'm not scared by terminal or small tinkering and stuff but I didn't need to do anything like that at all here. I was prepared for a distro hopping (using Win 11 is out of the question for me) but it just works
Also when looking for a distro I immediately disqualified any immutable systems, but this is a safe option for people that don't know what they are doing so I appreciate there is a choice like that for them.
But If you want something more stable, sure go with more stable choices. There is plenty to choose from. If you don;t use Linux yet just try it. You will be surprised how good Linux got especially if you haven't use it in a while like myself.
Ok one small rant, Vulkan shaders compilation is an utter BS that pisses me of when I just what to quickly open the game and have a quick session. So I update my system maybe once a week so nvidia drivers stays the same and fresh shaders compilation is not needed.
Overall, I don't see me coming back to Windows ever again (for private usage). And yes I'm waiting and will buy Steam Machine day-1 to support Valve and everything that makes Linux more mainstream choice.

So you update your system once a week and don't see a problem? I don't update Windows for months apart. That's how convenient Windows used to be.
Yes, if you don't do much on your PC, those are fine distros. The more you need to do stuff, the more issues they present.
You can enable background Vulkan shader processing in Steam settings, but know that it has cost in CPU usage when not gaming.

Investigate which process does it and limit that process to a few cores.
It’s not random. It happens whenever the driver changes and the shader ABI has changed. So you should know whenever that happens.

x2
Other that the VERY limited use I had for my last job. And I mean "I know sudo and a handful of commands I need" I don't touch linux.
Until windows can't do what I need it to (or starts doing things I don't like) sticking with it.
We will see what win12 is like. Skipping 11. But also skipped 98 [went 98se], ME, Vista, Win8, (that tick tock of windows: If this version is good, I won't like the next one). See if it holds.
